Had no idea the Olympian had the National steering wheel. I knew the Titan did. I wish uploaders would provide more information. Lucky I can tell this has got a Gardner 6LXB.

@@jazzyjim76 a former NBC bus. As an Australian, I've never seen an Olympian in NBC livery with the twin arrow logo. I've ridden an ex Hong Kong Olympian with Gardner and Voith.

The early ones were semi auto with a Gardner engine, basically a VR with suspension.

Gardner, Cummins and Leyland TL11. ZF, Leyland (formerly Wilson) semi automatic and hydracyclic automatic and Voith.

Depended on operator. Many NBC companies took semi auto Olympians up to C reg, most PTEs favoured fully automatic right from their first batches (such as Edinburgh) and hydracyclic gearboxes only available up to 1988

There is an ‘S’ on the selector which needs to be engaged to be able to start it then gears 1-5 with 1st really being a crawler gear for hill starts and slow manoeuvres. Most of the time on the flat with light loads you’ll pull away in second, pause in between the gear changes to wait for the revs to drop before selecting the next gear. Semi automatic so no clutch.
