Something refreshing with Keefe vs. Babcock is the willingness to even let the assistant coaches feel good about themselves, just like he does with the players. There were 2 time outs in this game, one when we had a powerplay and wanted to rest our first unit and the second on a Colorado time out for the same reason. In both cases, Keefe let the McFarland talk to the powerplay unit and Hakstol talk to the penalty kill unit. This seldom happened when ego-maniac Babcock was coach as it was always him the talked and diagrammed to the players. Good on you Keefe. Also, as discussed by Steve, nice to see the powerplay units not using that stupid drop pass which normally created problems entering the other teams zone. Still see too many incomplete long pass from our defensive zone causing icing. We must have the greatest number of icing calls in the league.

Hey Steve, general question: Can't stand the two-handed 'check' (push) from behind to flatten an opposing player. So close to a cross-check but legal. How does that help hockey -- injuries aside? Refs seem to struggle calling it, so it's endless cheap shots to face-plant, unlike fair and effective body checks.

November- this team is ruining my life 1 week ago - WE literally SUCK, in sooooo many ways, Barrie is the worst pick up in leafs history. second thought: the secondary scoring is nice because the top line on this team hasn't existed all season, which is a big part of the hole they're in. tampa 5 games in hand...like wtf is that, who makes this schedule. i kept hearing people say tavares was the reason a bunch of bums on NYI were better....ok, why isn't it happening here then? i almost feel hyman is wasted there and would be interested to see him back with matthews and nylander.
