I think bertuzzi's reaction threw the team off did you see him while they were chirping at Marchand? I think Bertuzzi wants back to Boston! In his interview after the game, it was clear - he really likes marchand, likes that team. He was just sitting there laughing at the whole thing while the rest of the team was chirping away - but they didn't do anything on the ice. They were all bark and no bite Maybe because they know Looooch! will be along And Charlie McAvoy sent a message to the entire NHL! They're just not willing to mess with us. But I love bertuzzi's reaction - see if you can find it

He found it entertaining However what I'm saying is for the rest of the crowd thinking he's defying the leafs, the best way to approach him is just to keep smiling and laughing with him so he knows you didn't get under his skin That's what the rest of the bench should have done. But I think your theory is probably right, I don't pretend to get in his head. But listening to his interview before the game, just sitting there smirking back is exactly what you do with a guy like that. But I think he enjoyed the show

I don’t bitch about reffing because no matter what nobody takes it serious and will just call you salty, but I will bitch to the end of time that not a single soul jumped Marchand. Any other team that happens too, someone is cross checking Marchand into those boards and fighting him. During the Ducks Yotes game, someone hit Sean Durzi from behind and it was a clear boarding penalty, and Sean Durzi got up and beat the guy up himself. You’re telling me we traded that guy for a guy who isn’t even in the league anymore? Damn why’d we trade all the good prospects, and why has nobody on the Leafs heard of accountability?

@nbeggs2009
@nbeggs2009 10 ай бұрын
Totally agree. I would expect that the coach should have sent someone out to deliver the message for the cheap shot on Liligren. That no one has stood up on this team for years, tells us that it is the coach, not just the players. Keefe needs to actually use the tools he is given. Reaves is a pounder not a grinder. Also, bert was laughing because he "knows marchand is a nice guy" and y'know.... that's really funny if you're on his team but you're on a rival team and you're sitting there with your toothless grin laughing while a teammate was helped down the tunnel because marchand was chirping and he's a.... nice guy.

Man, thank you for the "just a pickle" analogy. I am a newly returned leafs fan after abandoning them (and all sport) in the 90s due to some dramatic life event, and your videos have really been a big part of getting me and my family in to all of this. When I heard the team would have more "snot" I was excited, as it always felt like the leafs are playing under different directions than other teams - teams that are willing to put it all out on the line to win and protect each other (even maybe at the price of a win). And it feels like the rules are different for the leafs they're being told "you boys go out and have a fun skate, make sure to be nice". I wish we could see some of that snot we were promised.

I mean... yeah this is *exactly* what Reaves is. Speaking from experience: He makes a big deal about what he would have done in a situation (like when he said Tom Wilson never would have touched Panarin if he had been on the team then). He shows up now and then to get challeged to a fight (like when Pezzetta did while Reaves was a Ranger). But when something happens that needs an actual response (like when Blais missed an entire season due to a PK Subban slewfoot while Reaves was a Ranger), he will just make a remark postgame like "oh I'd rather meet him in the parking lot after the game because I didnt want to take a penalty". This is the player he is, hes embarrassing, and I am very sorry youve got that on the books for 2.5 more years.

I remember last season when the Kings acquired Fiala, and he just wasnt working out on the first line. The Kings didn't want to mess with the chemistry on the 2nd line, so they decided to place him on the 3rd line with Lizotte, and he thrived. 72 points in 69 games. What I'm trying to say is that Keefe should try spreading his top four across the top 3 lines. Just completely flip the norm early in the season. See how it works. Try Marner or Nylander on 3rd line. Feels like the most realistic solution at the moment. I mean, they only have like 3 goals from their bottom 6 in 10 games. Compare that to LA, who have like 15 goals from their bottom 6 in their first 10. Now, Kings are a deeper team obviously, but they're spread out evenly. I just think that spreading their stars out will elevate the play of the underperforming players.

That's what the Bruins did last year and are somewhat doing so now. Pasta and Marchand rarely work together, because the Bruins prefer line depth over top heavy lines. Pasta was a 2nd liner last year, Taylor Hall on the 3rd line.

I understand Tyler bertuzzi’s struggles and don’t deny them, but to say that he is laughing with Marchand is insane. Nobody on the team has an out-for-blood personality. Nobody grabs the team by the balls and drags them through a game, forcing them to play better and with snarl. Hell, with that logic, Mats Sundin wasn't the ideal Captain either. He's a Hall-of-Famer, who was the most productive Leaf in their history, yes. No denying that - stats say a lot. But to be that voice in the locker room in the second intermission? I highly doubt he was the guy who had a vein popping in his neck, trying to get his team to win. Clark? Gilmour? THEY were Captains. Iconic Captians. Hell, in Phaneuf's hayday he was more intimidating than Reaves Domi and Bertuzzi COMBINED! He'd be the type to likely to pop a blood vessel. But do I see anyone on this team remotely close to a Clark, Gilmour, Phaneuf - or even friggin' ROB RAMAGE? Nope.
