I read there was a 5K 38" WOLED UW coming next year. That for me will be the next jump, 1440p is fine, but 2160p in an UW would be a pretty nice upgrade, mostly for text rendering. I'm currently on a Samsung G8, which is QD-OLED, and I do really love those QD-OLED colours.

@@ultrawidenexus I wonder how much harder that'd be to drive than a regular 4k monitor. I found trying my girlfriends 1440p monitor I didn't really gain much FPS wise in my games (think they are mostly CPU bound in my system on the games I play) but would be curious on the difference in performance between 4k and the ultrawide with 2160p on a wider screen with more width pixels.

@@spookykid666 at lower resolution, its mainly cpu bound. A 4090 can run 5k pretty well with DLSS and FG but with no RT. I think with a 5090 it will be more capable including RT. Will test both when time comes

I think LG is a great option, but you know that with the Samsung G9 OLED you get great quality colors and for lovers of panoramic screens it is excellent, obviously we must configure it correctly. Nice review! In the absence of a perfect Ultrawide monitor, my solution for the next best thing was to buy a 48" LG C1 OLED TV and run it with a custom 3840x1620 resolution. You get black bars top and bottom but since they're pitch black, it just blends with the bezels and doesn't bother me at all. The only downside is there is no curve. On the other hand when I play with a controller and lean back away from the screen, having no curve is actually preferable (curve is nice sitting right in front of it, not so much from a distance). Bonus is that I can basically switch between 2160P, 1800P and 1620P depending on which aspect ration I want. Think I'm gonna stick to this setup for the foreseeable future. OLED truly is the gold standard.

Great vidéo ! For monitor use only on LG side, would you consider it an upgrade compared to a 42 C4 (or C2) oled tv ? Other way to ask, do you feel the 45 ultragear is worth spending 400€ more than the c4 ? Thanks for your feedback and merry christmas !
@ultrawidenexusАй бұрын
The HDR on C4 will be better and much brighter. If you looking for a ultrawide aspect, LG ultragear will be a better upgrade since its more immersive and you can sit closer due to curve. I still have my C2 that i used as an UW for short time but nothing beats a dedicated UW monitor. A TV should be used for that purpose and a dedicated monitor will always be better for PC usage. I've played around with a TV as monitor long enough now that feel its worth it to spend the extra for the 45 ultragear. The only thing you will miss is the brightness from a TV but your eyes will adjust fairly quickly with the lower peak brightness with a oled monitor.
