make sure your type C cable is video out supported (USB C 3.2, thunder bolt 3/4). Also make sure the video source of your type C device is also video output supported. Like my laptop, MSI GF63 Thin, it has USB type C, but it is not thunderbolt type, not USB 3.2, so I can't get video output from it.
