LG-35 Legends Super Ginrai (Random Review)

Okay, from the looks of things, I could say the Takara Legends Super/God Ginrai felt more like a Plastic Addict material because of it being a floppy mess. However, it did not scratch the surface of that PA red zone, so make that of what you will. The weapons are good, for once, and it combines with a new, dedicated God Bomber. Kinda wish the Power of the Primes Evolution Prime became the basis, complete with how Star Convoy from Generations Selects used that mold, and it was amazing.

What's weird is that the feet were remolded specifically for the God Ginrai combination, but instead it just made the combination completely useless.

I have him on my Shelf as God Ginrai with the 3rd Party Head, "Jinrai Prime" Extension and Human Ginrai in His Engine Form. I have No issues He stands up Just fine. I have the EX Version

Now...I was fortunate enough to get the somewhat revamped LGEX God Ginrai set. The ankle issue ain't as fixed as you were led to believe, at least, not with my copy. The Autobot symbol on the trailer is a bit bigger. It also includes two additional bonus Headmasters in Cab and Minerva. The silver paint for certain parts is now chrome (this is more for Godbomber than Ginrai, though). And most of all, almost everywhere where there was solid red plastic painted blue for the windows, there is now translucent blue inserts. (the only spot that's still painted is that crossbar that flips up to complete the robot chest) The official base modes are pure 🦈💩. They suck, period. I remember when Titans Return first started, there was an article posted online, and in it, the folks at X2 Toys were showing off their own fanmode for the Blaster mold. (I've been using that as the base mode for Soundwave ever since, especially since my copy of TR Soundwave could *never* properly assume the boombox mode) Despite that and despite the flaws, Ginrai is easily one of my favorite mainline figures. Unless another more accurate one gets made - which I strongly doubt - this is as good as it gets...this is the modernized Ginrai. Goes Full Synchro with me cuz the G1 PMOP was my first Optimus, back on my 11th birthday in. Got God Ginrai in December 2019 at 42. May try to hunt down a G1 Commemorative Series PMOP, since that's literally the Takara G1 God Ginrai set. Those feet: bad design? Hell yeah, quite possibly the dumbest of dumb design decisions in Transformers history - for mainline stuff. But it's quite in line with what Takara was doing at that time: anime accuracy. And nevermind the ankles, the trailer panels that make up the shins don't hold together well, even standing straight up. 😏😏😏

I love how this figure LOOKS. Never was crazy about how everyone was headmasters and I think this figure suffers for it. HOWEVER, as ginrai i let it slide because he’s a transtector

TJ’s reviews are always great. This one in particular nailed it. I wanted to love this figure when it came out…but the engineering problems were just too numerous and I sold it off for a handsome sum. Power Master Prime is fertile ground for a Commander Class figure. Just saying, Hasbro.

I got the Magnus Prime Hasbro release and with Legends Godbomber off ebay last summer I didn't even notice it was that one not the Takara version, I was so happy when I realised it was the Magnus Prime version. I think it has a better deco and even has those bigger Autobot symbols on the trailer than the Takara Legends version you were asking for.

Retooling the feet was 100% unnecessary! They could have found a way to get Godbomber to combine with the original ultra magnus feet!

Perfect Effect has two upgrade kits for this figure. One comes with a Masterforce accurate transforming cab figure, and the other comes with the Powermaster and a new combined mode head with light-up eyes.

this is the very first Transformer that I preordered in BBTS when it was coming out best yet, during my Birthday month ( May ) alongside God Bomber that came a month later I missed out on the box set but I am happy with the individual releases myself

Go to base mode and turn legs into wings and towers down like jets and make a spaceship. I did that with my G1 Powermaster, and my God Ginrai reissue from 20 years ago.

This toy also got released in the US as Magnus Prime in the Siege On Cybertron boxset. Said boxset also had fellow Masterforce cast member Metalhawk, along with Tidal Wave, Pounce and a diecast Thunderwing Headmaster. Shame i never saw that set and getting it and the Velocitron set now would very costly thanks to scalpers.

I've got the original Titans Return Powermaster Prime. I know people complain about his arms and parts not being accurate but at least he doesnt have stability issues like Super Ginrai. Got him to go with the POTP Leader Optimus to have two big trailer Primes in vehicle mode.

ive been on the fence on this mold for a while so I think I'll ultimately pass and wait for a new version. I do love the headmaster gimmick though, so wouldn't mind if they did that again but maybe adjusted the way the eyes are so they pop up more. Either make them yellow or have them stick out more from the face.

I enjoy this figure except for the feet panels that keep popping of the peg whenever I try to transform it, and then I need to wait for someone to help me get them back on. Hopefully HasTak will try again sometime in the future.

Though I wonder how many were surprised to see that Hasbro eventually brought this in western market, just giving slight paint alterations and rename as Magnus Prime. Though only way to have Magnus Prime variant of this is to have Titans Return's second 5-pack; BBTS exclusive "Siege on Cybertron" boxset.

The Japanese Version is retold so that it can combine with God Bomber. What I did not know was that the OG Power master Prime could do the same. I was lucky enough to get a mint in box G1 God Bomber. FYI it is still crap in posing. I bought a 3D part so that he does not fall apart,

That looks pretty cool, yet the feet are mistransformed. Other pics of him show that the blue foot toes things pop down and look more like toes. The silver panels on the inside also look like they should be folded out on the backs of the legs to mak clearance.

It's the feet that kill this thing's appeal to me as a modern CHUG take on God Ginrai. Hell, the shin/leg/foot upgrade replacement for CW Magnus was similarly godawful, I went back to the default stable legs. Shame. I've yet to see a good CHUG-worthy God Ginrai-style (winged Optimus) upgrade.

They must have taken this mold and customized it when they made the Evolution version, the colours of Ginrai also remind me of why I prefer the Nemesis version of the Evolution one, the full black version just looks better.
