I'm a real fan of this LG TV. They are keeping up to date with current apps (Amazon VOD & Redbox Instant Streaming) and I personally prefer the passive 3D. Active shutter 3D glasses are too bulky and heavy. I know 3D isn't that important to some, but I love it. I actually just bought a 24 inch 3D LG monitor for my computer that I will be reviewing on this channel soon. I got it primarily because I want to start creating 3D content.

It's a great TV. I'm very happy with mine. If it had a matte screen it would be absolutely perfect. With the recent firmware update, it now offers Amazon VOD which is awesome.

TechHarvest i really want to buy this tv for our bedroom but i need to know if this model can play video files "MKV, MP4 & AVI FILES" via usb or sea gate hard drive? and will it decode DTS audio movie files? because my 50inch smart Sony will not play DTS audio movie files. >:( we download all of our movies and watch them via external hard drive.

I like the true motion effect. Some people hate it. The higher the frequency, the more the effect is noticeable. 120Hz should be sufficient, but I wanted the maximum specs on my TV so I sought out the 240Hz.

I know that DVR functionality is much easier to do outside of the USA. Here in the US we have a lot of laws and hurdles to jump. DVR functionality isn't built into the TV. You need an external device for that.

Samsung only makes active shutter 3D. I purposely went with passive 3D. In fact it was this TV's main selling point. The secondary selling point was the 240Hz. My dad has a Samsung 3D TV and it's great, but I'm not a huge fan of the comparatively heavy active shutter glasses. I prefer wearing lighter passive 3D glasses. Plus passive 3D glasses are cheap and it won't make you cry if you break one.

Personally I bought this TV because I love 3D. As far as 3D goes, I prefer passive 3D to active shutter 3D. The glasses are lighter, which sounds dumb but really makes a difference if you're going to be watching hours of 3D content at a time. Unfortunately Samsung doesn't make passive 3D TV's.

That wouldn't work. The 3D effect is achieved by processing 2 slightly different images into one experience. A KZbin video is just 1 image. The TV displays 2 slightly different images on the same screen. The glasses decode that image so that one image is desplayed to the left eye and the other to the right. Your brain combines those images and gives you the depth perception of 3D

Hi there. Still impressed with this tv? I have an opportunity to buy the 47lm6400 version for 620$. Is the frequency difference such a big deal? Where do you actually see and take advantage of this? Isn't 120Hz already enough?

Audio/Video types still love Plasma and will tell you that it's still the best. Personally I don't care about gradients of great. Meaning that I think that my new TV is great. If a Plasma is better or Great+, I'm fine with regular great. That being said, Plasma's are still energy hogs and I'd rather have a lower electrical bill than have deeper blacks. I wish TechHarvest was my main job. At this time it's part time at best. Maybe one day though :D

In an ideal world, all TV's would have a matte screen. However matte screens are more the exception and not the rule.

My mate has last years model, he has a 1.5gb hard drive connected to it, but he cant record on it from tvs tuners I wonder if yours can.But he has a load of movies on it, I suppose copied from his pc.

i just bought one from amazon :) ithink this will be better then my panasonic st30 which 3ds horrible with the shutter glasses, an the horrible snow in the background and bloom

What exactly do you want to do? Generally you can use an HDMI out from your laptop to your TV if both are equipped with HDMI.

STAY AWAY, FAR AWAY from the LG Smart TV!!!! We've owned ours for a year now. The TV functionality is pretty nice. The picture is great. But, the "magic remote" drives my wife and I NUTS!!!! It times out every 2 seconds, making the whole experience very frustrating when using Netflix, etc. You will absolutely hate using this TV due to the remote and there is no way to change the remote settings. Stay away and get another brand for your own sanity. Several other brands have better usability and a picture quality just as good. LG ruined a great TV with that stupid remote. What a waste. Buy another brand. Trust me, you'll be glad you avoided the LG smart tv!

your remote doesn't time out every 2 seconds then? how long does the arrow stay on the screen if you hold it still?

The on screen arrow disappears if you're not using it as you are experiencing. I don't ever find the remote unresponsive. The on screen arrow appears whenever I need it just by moving the remote. I keep the remote immobile when I'm not using it.

the delay should be 10 seconds. it would be a better user experience.

If it's not up to your standards, then by all means return it. You might be experiencing light bleed. Although I'm not 100% sure what the problem is. Personally I haven't had any issue at all with my set.
