Where to install the waterline on this LG refrigerator. I’m not covering all of the how to install a waterline. There are a lot of tutorials about that online already. I just want to show you where the connection is for this specific refrigerator. The LG French Door LMXS28596D refrigerator.

Thank you Paula, was trying to figure out how the line was set up when I found your site. I had been to Homedepot but they were of no help. Turns out all we had to do was take the little black cap off and screw on the steel braided line that was there from the one we replaced. Many thanks for your video again, Regards,PaulB

Thanks for this. The manual just shows the lines at the top. And only explains how to connect to the water line in the house.

Thank you you made my day. This is not even well explained in the owner's manual By the way if you changed your fridge, it would be a good idea to change this pipe too to avoid any water damage due to rupture of the old dried pipe.

I would advise using an armored shield water line rather than just pex line. Additionally, I would advise that the shut off valve be moved from the pipe to the first floor just above the access hole.

Those saddle valves often fail/leam over time, use a 9v water alarm if you're going to keep it. Also, plastic compression fitting inside the brass coupler plus some thread goo will help seal your connection.

The plastic hose is better than a copper tube that can break when moving the fridge and flood your home, but I recommend a breaded metal like flexible hose, I feel is safer. Because if that hose breaks the water will come out non stop. I fact many condo rules won't even allow you to connect a fridge to a water line.

So you didn't use the little ferrells on the inside of the compression nut? Looks like you just used the sleeve inside the line and then connected the compression nut to the back of the fridge. Is it still holding up? I ask because everything Ive read and watched says ferrells are needed to prevent leaks

@@bbyparit Its called a ferrule, sleeve or olive, it should have come with the compression fitting, its the part that compresses the plastic pipe to the inner brass sleeve. Your intution was right its needed to make a lasting waterproof fit. For plastic pipes/hoses like this, I read that you should use a plastic and not a metal ferrule since the metal ferrell could cut into the plastic pipe. i.stack.imgur.com/H6pCQ.jpg Great video overall.

@mikeshlyak7070
@mikeshlyak7070 Ай бұрын
This is a great video. ALSO, the standard size for LG is 1/4 inch exterior female compression nut. Most fridges come with 1/4 inch plastic pipe. This should save you time on researching. And yes, I'd consider the plastic ferrule, it literally looks like a ring and is sometimes called an "olive" in the plumbing world. You must orient it correctly too. Easiest way to know is to look at the ferrule sideways (pretend you had a ring on your finger) and find the side that appears to be narrowing slowly/stretched out. That side would be facing the toward the brass sleeve. The brass sleeve is that piece that was inserted into the plastic pipe which prevents the pipe from collapsing. This way, when you tighten the brass nut, the ferrule with be flush and push onto the plastic pipe and align perfectly with the brass sleeve on the interior of the plastic pipe and it creates a very tight seal so water cannot escape. If you have good experience, you can consider a brass ferrule, but be warned, if you are not careful, the brass will cut into the plastic piping, damage it, and you will have leaks. A general rule for newbies, like-with-like material. So plastic tubing + plastic ferrule is great as long as you have the brass nut on the exterior, and the brass sleeve on the interior of the plastic pipe you will be solid. Finally, tyflon tape for extra sealing/leak prevention added to the fridge threads before adding the plastic pipe and sealing with the exterior nut.

Tehe this is funny!😁 Yo you're going to have to hit that with a wrench of the correct size probably like a quarter inch... I'm not worried about how to get the water out of the dispenser once you get past all this point mine just sits there and like trickles out little drips...🤷
