I was able to pull out partially the top part where the touch controls are by using a flat plastic spatula. But No idea how to get the rest of it out. Was afraid to break it. Don't see any more placed to press on tabs. Please help!! Maybe a super short video explaining where the tabs are? where to push/pull. Or a video showing how to pull it off. Thank you in advance.

There is a microswitch behind the dispenser pad. The switch gets stuck and makes the dispenser pour water or ice non stop. If you are attempting this repair yourself a good practice would be to order the dispenser pad & microswitch. Dispenser pad may break upon removing.

This happened to mine. What I did was without disembling anything get a can of wd-40 with the straw attachment and spray all behind the lever frim both sides and the bottom and click it a few times. WhatI think happens if you gotta a sugary drink depsensing ice it splashes back behind cause it to get suck. If that doesn't work in the mean time you can use the lock button to disable it because even if yiu turn the water off the pump will keep trying to run.

Bro, just want to say thank you for your comment. I got the same issue today. I tried to open the panel but still couldn’t find the way through the switch. Then, I read your comment, I told myself this will be the last chance if it still not working I will give it up. I used the WD-40 to spray underneath, around the corner and the magic happened! I know it will be a strong smell but better than not working. Thank you!

Not yet, I have not been out to another service call with this type of unit, nor is this type of unit still sold at stores. What I will do is purchase the door and dispenser assembly, and post a video on how to take apart and put back together.

Yes if you look underneath the dispenser touchpad, you sould see clips towards the front.

If you look underneath the dispenser there are tabs along the edges, push them in with a flathead screwdriver and pull the face of the touchpad towards you wand it should pull rite out.

Guys, just need to use the WD-40 with a stick attached and spray underneath the pad, around both top corners of the pad and magic will happen. At first, I dont want to use WD-40 because of the smell but I must use it because it is very difficult to open the panel. Just give it a wipe and leave it there for few hours then the smell will gone

That panel is a royal pain to get out. There are tabs on the top side and they aren’t too tough to get free. Same on the bottom. The trick is there are two tabs in the middle about even with the lettering for the display buttons. Those middle tabs are on the inside, one on each side of the board for the display panel inside. The board for the display panel has one tab on the inside (on both left/ right sides) that clip into another plastic piece on the inside. If you’re not careful you might end up breaking the thin plastic sides of the display panel sides when trying to get those middle tabs free. We had no pictures or video to reference so we had to muscle it a bit and ended up breaking that thin plastic. I was able to super glue that broken piece. I had a repair tech here and after about an hour and a half of trying to get it off I told him to just do his best and it it breaks so be it. He said ok if he had to break it a new display panel was about 200 bucks. We got it off but broke that panel on the very thin plastic piece on the upper right side of that panel. I was able to super glue the panel. He completed the rest of the work to replace the micro switch. My symptom was the dispenser was running continuous even when the dispenser wasn’t pressed. Went really quickly once we got that stinking panel off.

Same here. Those little plastic tabs broke for us too, after we muscled off the panel. It wouldn't budge, so we ended up breaking it.

Not this model lmxs28596s/01 the only panel to remove is the control panel. I very easy. Then begin is three screw. After that. Is removing the tab. And begin the tab is the micro switch.

I hope this helps somebody...I had this exact same issue. Model of my fridge is LRFVC2406D. I was so frustrated b/c I had no idea where the clips were holding the cover on, but finally got it so here is the deal. On my model anyway, there are 3 clips across the top (I broke 2 of them unfortunately). There are NO clips on the sides, it just tucks tightly in. On the bottom there are 2 additional clips. I was able to get it off by freeing the top clips and pulling down and out at the same time.
