LG Front Load Washing Machine FHT1208SWL - Demo

A short demo video of the Cotton wash program. The laundry load includes 10 T-shirts and 4 Jeans Trousers. The whole video wash program has been trimmed to 5 minutes for keeping the video short. The sound from the machine is not modified in any way. I placed a small pot on the top of the machine to sense vibration. The rubber feet does a great job of keeping the machine in the same position, without allowing it to move.
Note : I have used the wrong type of detergent in the demo. (used a top load detergent instead of front load detergent powder). Front load powder needs to be used for this machine.

Hi! Yes. The time to complete shown on the machine will be longer than actual time. Its because the complete wash cycle is dependent on several inputs like water pressure to fill, heating, load of the clothes etc. And hence the time ticks slowly to adjust as per the progress. Your machine will start smelling very bad if you keep using liquid detergent. Use only HE detergent. Also your machine needs some adjustment in the feets because there's slight vibration.

@@TechnoShare Yes if you don't use detergent made specifically for front loaders, scale and residue will start depositing on drums eventually leading to corrosion and breakdown. Another alternative is to use descaling powder every couple months or so and continue with regular detergent. Front load detergents unfortunately are very expensive but if your machine gets damaged after a few years, the repair costs are very high.

Hi there! No, I haven't had any problems with water temperature. I usually put cotton program, and the temperature it selects by default for this program is 40 degree Celsius. I have once increased the temperature, and did verify that it was indeed heating as i could feel the heat by touching the drum door. Perhaps something wrong with your heating mechanism in the machine? Thank you for watching!

Hi there! Thanks for your kind words! I think there are 2 ways. First one is to put the machine to spin and catch the water from the drain pipe. It can put in only spin mode by powering ON the machine, press the Spin option on touch panel and the start button. Second way (i have never tried this), is you can try to drain water from the front drain filter compartment. It is located on the front side of the machine (right bottom side). Open the lid and there will be a small pipe with a cork or stopper attached to the end of the pipe. On removing the stopper, water should free flow out of the machine. No need to power on the machine. Make sure you have switched off the machine if you attempt to try this. Water may spill out, so watch out for that! Hope this helps!! Thanks for watching

Wash cycle uses detergent to wash clothes. Rinse cycle removes the detergent in clothes by rinsing. One rinse may not be sufficient to remove all the detergent. Hence 2 to 3 cycles of rinse may be required.

It could be. I have had similar problem but it was due to imbalance. I had put a pillow inside and a bedsheet. The bedsheet being heavy was sitting on pillow. As weight was not evenly distributed, the rinse cycle never ended. I had to remove one of them and resume the rinse. Hope this helps!

Yes. Even i get that some time. I usually get it if i add already soaked clothes. Since it has water content already, during the initially weighing process, (before the wash starts) , it considers the load to be high and estimates higher time for completion. Hence if i have to put soaked clothes, i put the 1hr wash (downloaded) program. This completes the wash in 60 to 70 mins. And this washes same as cotton program (same spin speed, hotness of water etc). Hope this helps! Thanks for watching 🙂

Hi there! Not sure whats the extent of vibration and noise. I'm sure you would have checked my video and seen how my machine performed. Its still operating with the same behaviour. No problem with my machine. If you have kept any stand, try removing it. And also ensure the washing machine feet is levelled on the floor surface. Also, there are few bolts that support the drum during shipping. They need to be removed before using the machine. Hope the installation guy removed it for your machine. Please check the user manual. Hi bro.. I am not using stand. The installation guy told not to use as it will not be stable and might cause vibration. You can try levelling the stand if it is not levelled properly. If still vibration, then try removing stand and see. Make sure the ground is even.. no slope etc. And the machine stand on all the legs without any gap between floor and leg.

I think this had happened once for me. But it was only during spin cycle. It was not able to spin fast as items inside the drum was not evenly spread. I had put a pillow and it lead to imbalance in the drum as it was on one side of the drum, along with a couple of clothes. It worked fine after i manually removed the clothes and put only the pillow. Not sure about your problem. Perhaps was it overloaded or same as mine?

hi there!! May be, the tray needs some cleaning? so that the powder can slide off, when water falls over it? I hope you are putting the detergent in the right compartment. May be you can try put the detergent a little deeper inside, away from you. I use liquid detergent. Dont see any remains after wash. I have used powder as well. The technician didn't recommend. Hence I have kept it without stand. It could shake or wobble during spin as it may be not levelled or unstable. Overtime lot of dust and garbage gets collected beneath and it may be difficult to clean it. I vacuum beneath as much as I can reach.

Not sure of the exact number. It could vary based on the load (number of clothes) and also the wash program selected. On a average it can take around 70 to 75 Litres per wash.

Hi there! Yes, we can add clothes after start. But it needs to be within very short time after start. The lid will not open if the water level in the drum is high enough to spill out is or if the water is too hot. So can't guarantee that the door will open everytime. Regarding bedsheets, I have put 4 to 5 single bedsheets (cotton). Can squeeze in more, but wash may not be good. Saree also around 4 to 5 in number. Yes, sometimes it gets entangled to each other. Can't help. Drum revolves very slowly for 1 min in the end to make it entangle free. But it is stil entangled. Hope this helps! Thanks for watching 👍🙂 subscribe!

Good question. Can't really weigh the clothes. However I just go by a rough number of clothes. Just ensure you don't stuff in too much. There should be some free space inside the drum so that the clothes can tumble when the drum rotates.

Its running fine. So far no problems. No vibrations. Working same as shown in the demo video. Noise levels are ok. During washing its very silent. During spin it has some sound. But its expected and is as same as any other washing machine sound.

Hey there! Thats right. Unlike top load, here it does not fill the drum completely. The washing concept is based on tumble wash. When the drum rotates, the clothes need to tumble down and fall within the drum, thus removing the dirt and stains. Tumbling can happen only when there is less water in the drum. Also, its an added advantage as it reduces water consumption. Hope this answers your query!!

Hi there! The outlet pipe comes out from the washing machine at vertical center ie about 1.5 feet height from the floor. The pipe is flexible and about 4 to 4.5 feet in length. Water is actually electrically pumped out from the machine. So there is no need to worry about it flowing back. In fact it can also be let out to the sink or wash basin. Hi bro..please try the "Speed 14" program. Wash quality is ok. Spin time is very less due to the short time and may not dry as good as normal programs. Check it out!! Also, give the 1 hr wash in download options a try. I always use it. It finishes in max 55 mins to 1hr 10 mins. Hope this helps!! Hey there! If its the detergent, then you can put it in the main compartment in the detection tray. The big Left half portion when you open the tray out. Hi there! Water is added via a hose pipe, connected to a tap. Hose pipe attaches at the back of the machine (top portion) . Water draining is also via a drain outlet pipe, at the back. A drain pump, pumps water out thru the pipe. The end of the drain pipe can be let into a sink or into the bathroom chamber. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching 👍🙂

Hey there! It has spin drying feature. Dries about 80 %bi guess. Rest you need to sun dry or dry them in an external hot air dryer machine. I paid around Rs.38k more than a year ago. Now it might be cheaper. Hope this helps! Thanks for watching 😊

As far as I can see. You’ve loaded the whole machine with your clothes and there’s seems not enough room for the clothes to get mixed and cleaned. Don’t you think overloading the machine with huge sim will effect the results since the clothes doesn’t have enough space to rinse properly. It’s just occurred to my mind.

Hello Sir, I have bought the same LG washing machine for 3 years so far. Yesterday my wife, put the selecting knob on " mixed" which is supossed to take 1.23 hours to complete the washing cycle It started doing its job but as there is yet 39 minutes left, it did not continue any more If you can Sir, please tell me what is the problem might be. Hello Sir, The wash time may vary as per the load of clothes. Regarding the machine stopping with 39 mins left, could it be due to no water in the overhead tank? Or if the inlet hose filter is clogged with dirt, water may not fill in, and it may stop during rinse cycle due to no water. Perhaps if it showed any error code when it was stopped, you can check the manual for error code. I cant think of any other factors that could have caused the stoppage. I haven't experienced any such, except for stopping when no water in tank. Hope this helps! Thanks for watching 🙏👍😊

Hi there! Looks like you are waiting for the Amazon sale! My experience so far has been good with the product. No issues so far. Washes good. No vibrations or machine movements or loud noises. Been a year or little more than that I guess. But, I have seen many complaining about vibration and noise problems in the machine. I really don't know what is the cause or extent of vibration and noise and if that was normal or abnormal, as I haven't seen it in person. It could be real flaw or it could be an installation issue. If you see the reviews of any machine(any brand), you will see few customers complaining of problems and few happy with the machine. So you many want to take a call on buying the machine based on your comfort🙂. I can only help by sharing my honest and unbiased experience using the product. I have lost track of the latest models in other brands. I would recommend that you visit few local dealer and get to know the features and new models in person. (thats how i did before buying this machine). Do an analysis back home and then decide on the brand and model, and buying either online or from stores. Hope this helps! Thanks for watching 😊

You are using wrong detergent already,its surfexcel top load detergent it produce lot of suds and unable to rinse properly in this machine,use surfexcel front load liquid (purple bottle)

Hey! Thanks for the info. After reading articles on the internet I understood that, for front loading washing machine, we need to use high efficiency low suds formula detergent. The low suds formula produces less lather and removes all the dirt and soap with less water. Appreciate your comments. It really helped! Thanks!

Haha! I do it for new highly colored clothes. During first wash some clothes shed colors. Otherwise i tend to mix them up 😁

Advice : 1:27 don't put top load detergent liquid in front load as shown in video please use front load liquid detergent otherwise washing machine may be damaged😌 Top load detergent produces more lather and so leaves more residue behind, thus your clothes may not be effectively washed if you use top load detergent for front load washers Excessive suds from a top-load detergent used in a front-load machine can leave a residue that impacts the machine's functionality.

Hello Sir. To me LG has been doing good so far. No problems till date. No vibrations (that people usually complain). I have not got it serviced anytime till date. Wash quality is also good. Usually salesman try to push brands from which they get more commission. But it could also br genuine suggestions. May be you can do a comparison of it with another brand with similar functions and features and then take a call. I haven't used Bosch washing machine, and hence cannot comment much on it. One doubt. Can i wash comforter in this machine. I dumped my king size comfortable inside my LG washing machine. It occupied full space of the drum. The went on washing more than 2 hours and showed an error code. I had to hard stop my machine. Is comforters cant be used in washing machines ?

Hey there! I dont have comforter to try. But I have put pillows (synthetic...not cotton), fleece blankets, woolen rug. It worked and washed fine. If you put soaked items into the machine, it will run forever as the time is dependent on the initial weight of the clothes as soon as its loaded. Hence, if i put soaked clothes, I put the 1 hr wash in downloaded program and it usually completes in less than 60 to 90 minutes. Not sure of your error or the long running of the program. Hope this helps!

Hi there! You can try these measures. Dont use stand, as it will not keep the machine stable. Keep the machine on the floor and also make sure it is levelled properly. Next, when you load the clothes, put the clothes one by one and make sure its distributed evenly. And we should not overload the machine with too much of heavy or too many clothes. Hope this helps 😊. Helpful demo however I actually have to question the efficacy of this high priced washing machine.... My partner (she is a lawyer) and I (media expert) purchased this 2 years ago and quite frankly all I have to show for it is shrinkage and faux tie die underwear. Unless you want to wash cash in it... Hi there!! Sometimes it does show these kind of timings. It usually happens when we put wet clothes for wash, and as a result when it weighs initially, it calculates longer time, thinking there is more clothes. During such times, I turn off the machine, and then select the download program, and select the 1 hour wash, (Downloaded to the machine from the LG SmartThinQ app. This wash program usually completes in 50 to 70 mins most of the time, and has the same options of cotton cycle (ex: spin speed, hotness of water, etc). Yes. There is a download program called 1 hr wash. You need to download this using mobile app on to your machine and select that program. It usually washes in 59 mins. Sometimes, if the load is on the higher side, it can go upto 1.5 hrs.

Yes! Its automatic. Filled by tap and pipe at the back of the machine. Drain is also similar. At the back, there is a drain pipe. You can either connect it to the sink drain chamber or also put the open end of the pipe into the sink. I have left the pipe open in the bathroom, so it drains it out there.

Not manually. We need to connect a pipe provided at the back of the machine to the tap. Water automatically fills into the drum when the machine starts.

Hey there! We cant change the time of washing. Yes, sometimes it shows too much time for completing the wash. During such time I just switch off the power and select the 1 hr wash, in the downloaded program. The wash and rinse sequence as well as the spin and temperature settings resemble the cotton program on this 1 hr wash program. Washes fine as well. Do give it a try and see! Why you didn't use stand for machine...., is it not necessary?

Its is advised not to use any stand, as it will not hold the washing machine firmly. Due to the unstability, the washing machine may start vibrating too much during spin cycle. The washing machine has levelling legs, that can be tightened or loosened to level the washing machine on the floor. If it is not levelled, then it could vibrate. The installation guy also advised not to use any stand. Hence, I have been using it without stand. Cleaning beneath the machine is very difficult, as the gap is very small. Moving the machine or even tilting it is difficult, as it is very heavy!.

Nope. Unfortunately We can't set any timer. You can try the 1 hr wash program available in the downloaded program. (using app). This program will usually finish the wash in 1 hour. It almost resembles the cotton program cycle.

Run a Mix cycle with Time Save option without cloths then pause and press add cloth, open door, put cloths (within 4 or 14 minutes before machine get off depends on model), close door and press play/pause button, now the time will be shorter.
