I feel he goes deep into things that don't really matter to most people and brushes off things that do as unimportant. Like the pink tint uniformity issue and raised black levels in ambient light are presented as complete non issue but in reality the tint ranges from bad to awful on these panels and the contrast loss is enough to look worse than a good LCD in ambient light.

Once again Vincent you provide the best most complete tv review on KZbin. Giving you my ‘best in class, HIGHLY RECOMMENDED’ review award. LG is getting my money this year. 77” G3 will join 65” A80J to become our second OLED in our living space. Indeed LG may not win the shootout with QD-OLED but as an all-rounder the company has my vote. To simply catch up with and in some viewing scenes surpass last years QD-OLED is feat enough for me. Probably won't impact the C series much this year around, since the improvements are because of the MLA technology. LG will probably keep that exclusive to high end series a bit more time. But if it is easy to scale up manufacturing with MLA and LG can keep innovating new improvements it could happen within a few generations.

@Makoto nope, since power draw is less the burn in risk is theoretically better than G2 plus company itself is giving 5 yrs warranty which neither Sony or Samsung gives and you will see burn in on s95 series cause if you look at brightness charts , lgs older Oleds were brighter than newer ones from E series to C they nerfed it , so Lg learned their lesson . Hence go with Lg if you are worried about burn in

@@lipiningole1381 > power draw I'll just add one thing - I *think* the power draw was reduced, compared to the G2, *only* when brightness output was equalised between the two. Before I decide to make any purchase I'll be waiting to see the discounts on 2023 TVs during Black Friday sales this November and December. All the flagship models from major manufacturers will have been released and fully reviewed by that time. I can't believe they just dumped 120hz BFI. I'll admit it's a somewhat niche feature but I love it on my CX. It's just mind boggling they couldn't keep it in or hide it behind some "advanced" menu or something like that. Side scrolling games are almost CRT clear on the CX with BFI enabled.

This is pretty stupid how hard we lucked out with that. It is so good no question the best looking unit ever. Bought this TV and still so happy with the 55 inch display. Use it in competitive first person shooter while keeping the brightness higher and wow does it ever look buttery. Hopefully they are able to push LG OLED into the 360hz / 500hz territory and chroma sub sampling ( as even that with BFI would require both a new HDMI standard new consoles and definately a new video card to hit 4k or soon to be the new standard 8k ) there is no possible resolution of us seeing RGB to this standard anytime soon, but would it ever put those monitors to shame and out of business

Hi Rhuann, hope you don’t mind a passive response. I’m no Vincent (not even close) but if you’re interested in other KZbinrs in the tv space, another one called “Stop the Fomo” had an engineer from Samsung Display on his channel recently and asked him a plethora of questions. One of them was “can MLA technology, also benefit QD-OLED?” The engineer’s answer was that it was ultimately, not necessary for QD-OLED due to QD-OLED being a “top emissive display technology” versus traditional WOLED technology that is “back emissive” I recommend hearing him explain it, I’m not smart enough to explain the distinction…but many people have had this same question for the industry (for good reason!) and I happen to hear this answer from someone pretty qualified. Their tonemapping for HDR10 content is still unacceptable. As seen here, you have to deal with clipped whites on HDR4000 content or elevated/darkened mid tones. Sony tone mapping just targets the highlights to ensure that APL is preserved in the dark and mid tones, but highlights are toned down to preserve color detail. This is the only acceptable way to view HDR10 content on a consumer television, and LG cannot do that without external tonemapping control from a Panasonic UHD player or a PC using madvr.

Downside of MLA is that the MLA layer will actually have issues with light refraction through the layer, which gives a grey tint to the screen like with QD-OLED (but probably not as bad). So yeah, in rooms with lights on (even if they are dim) you won't get the perfect blacks anymore to the naked eye. If it's a hindrance or not, or if it's mild enough that peak brightness wins over perfect blacks; that's something for each individual to decide. For me it was already a thing I was expecting and after the prices for the 2023 series LG OLEDs were released I decided on the G2 as an upgrade for my B8. So far I do not regret it in the slightest.

Fantastic information. I was waiting to see this before making my choice in buying last years a95k 65 inch or the g3 65. I think for the cost of both, a discounted a95k seems to be a better decision. Thank you SO much for taking the time to get back to me Vincent. You’re an absolute legend. Though I do wish you’d have said yes. As an owner of a LG CX OLED which I use as a monitor the VRR flicker/gamma shift gave me buyers remorse as I appear to be quite sensitive to it. Fine tuning the dark areas has no to little effect either which is a real shame. Would a Micro-LED display exhibit less noticeable flicker I wonder..?

I have a question for Vincent. I have an lg c2 and I really have a hard time dealing with the HGIG dimming. I calibrated my ps5 with DTM on and I turned the black stabilizer down on the tv to 8 and white Stabilizer to 11. It looks better with no black crush and doesn’t look as over brightened. My question is, does that make the image anymore accurate?

@@Maxxarcade LG C and G series OLEDs are fine for text clarity. On my C1 text is perfect. There is actually a setting in the TV called "sharpness" that can affect text clarity, for PC use set it to 10 and text will look perfect. I have the 55'' and only thought it was "too big" for a day. I have really bad myopia so I really like the larger screen since I can read most text with scaling at the default 100%.
