Starting this hack I got heartbroken as it didn't work but then again I only realized the paper being used rather had to be thick enough to push the motherboard against the screen. And yeah, so far so good. Thanks, bro for this hack. Y'all should subscribe, like and share!!!!

Thanks for the video, your advice worked for me! Opened the back, folder a bit of paper (just tore a 2x2 cm piece off a regular notebook, folded it twice to fit inside), put it on top of the connector, put the cover back on, screwed it back in place and ... and everything is fine now :)

thanks for the video. I got an idea after watching your video. if anyone doesn't want to take the phone apart, take the back battery cover off, put small folded paper between the senser and camera lens. put the battery cover back. it did the trick for me and screen stopped fading away. back side does look slightly bulging because of paper underneath but it's very quick and simple fix, anyone can do. good luck

My LG G3 had the exact same problem and I did the fix and it worked perfectly. What I found worked the best and is available to everybody is an old credit card. The thickness is perfect - not too thick and not too thin. It is firm and won't compress over time like paper. I could not find a suitable piece of rubber and I didn't think paper would be firm enough. I placed a tiny piece of double-sided Scotch tape on the spot near the camera and then placed a tiny piece of the credit card on the tape. I am so pleased. When my screen was flickering and fading it was unusable. I was initially sure I would have to buy a new phone. My phone is out of warrranty. Now it is like new again.

I'll add to the list of thank you's! I was figuring that I'd be buying a new phone until I ran across your video. I had a little piece of rubber with adhesive on one side (I believe it came as an "anti-slide" pad for one of the pieces of electronics around here). It measured about 1 mm thick so I cut two pieces to size and stuck them to the connector. Put everything back together and it seems, for the time being, to be working perfectly. Thanks again for taking the time to post this!
@sunburninaz8 жыл бұрын
Update: The phone's screen started going blank again yesterday. It's not doing it at nearly the same frequency it was before the fix, but it is doing it none-the-less. Not sure why the fix works perfectly for a few days and then starts acting up again. Thanks again, though, for taking the time to post the video.

My LG3 is perfect.. Until I encountered the same problem 3 weeks ago.. I have watched 3 ways to fix it here in youtube. Due to non availability of some materials and doubts on the benefit of throwing the motherboard of my unit to the oven.. I have decided to copy the above suggested solution.. But before I do that. . I read some feedback below saying that the problem will go back when the paper flattens out.. So, I look for some alternative to paper.. Glad. . That it still works!! Working well!!

to resolve almost definitive shape , using a square piece of rubber not too soft a little larger than the video piece of paper with a 2 mm thick more of the cowling camera. @timregister47458 жыл бұрын
I removed the main circuit board (carefully detaching the 4 x small cables first), pre-heated the oven to 160 Celsius, then placed the circuit board in the oven (upside down on an oven tray) for 10 mins, left to cool down for a further 10 mins then reassembled and so far I have had no further issues. The heating up in the oven re-flows the solder connecting the components to the circuit board and hopefully cures any dry joints - I have also used this approach on my iMac graphics board and a year later it is still functioning.

That's just stupid! I don't mean how you fixed the phone, but the fact all the headaches from this irritating problem can go away with a stupid piece of paper. I so wanted to throw my phone across the room a hundred times and I was in tears talking to tmobile and lg who couldn't help without tons of money. I called Cell Tech and that guy wanted 120. Funny cause he knew over the phone exactly what problem I was talking about. A lot or people seem to have this same issue; I just hope everyone finds your video before spending a lot of money. Thanks for doing this video, it was a huge help. Now I can relax and not stress thanks to you.

+Iftekhar Ahmad Khan I do have to open the phone back up and move it around in there every few weeks, but I can work with that. I can't really do a screen capture anymore cause that will definitely make it start fading out again since I'm pressing on that area. I rarely comment on videos, but because I am having the same issue, I figured I'd add my 2 cents. I did as you said and put the folded up paper on the connector and it went for about 3 days with out fading. After that it occasionally will start doing it again, but I found that if I press on the back of the phone (where the connector is located) it will go for a few hours with out fading again. I just need this fix to last me a few months until I'm due for my upgrade. Thanks for making the video, it has been helpful.

Worked for me. It kinda flashed the first time I started it, but hasn't again since. You have to play around with the thickness of the paper to make sure the case fits snug -- it's okay to have a tiny gap because the screws will tighten it, but leaving it too wide will allow dust and moisture in. As a side note, I didn't have the problem until I installed Marshmallow (6.0). LG's outsourced tech support is terrible -- they will have you restore to factory, then tell you it's a hardware issue, and if you're 2 days over the warranty, they refuse to create an exception even though their software update was what caused it.

Hi Incredible J I would like to thank you so much for your great advise!!. I had the same problem than you with my Lg3 screen I put a insulating tape piece in the sensor part and works perfectly!!. People if you have the same problem do not change any part, nor motherboard, nor screen. It is the sensor for sure. No problem to take pictures.
@sarahpeterson78118 жыл бұрын
It sounds like the issue is the proximity sensor. That would also explain why putting the paper on the back would somewhat resolve the problem. It pushes the motherboard against the frame more securely and then causes the proxy to pick up the light better. This is especially true if you recently had your screen replaced. Sometimes the rubber gaskets don't get transferred over. The issues has nothing to do with the camera, but the closeness of the camera to the proxy is what makes this hack work. Another quick hack would be to turn off the automatic dim in settings.

Now I can't see my phone screen at all but I can still feel it vibrating. I'm getting an iphone now instead haha cause this is the 2nd lg phone I've had thats done the same exact thing. But what I found is that when the phone is cold it works for like 3-5 min before going black, so I put my phone in the freezer, only long enough to simulate a temp it would be if I left it in a car in the winter so like 3 min. It's weird but it works for emergencies. Hope this helps

Thank you. My LG G3 started having this exact problem 3 days ago. Definitely not OS or software related. I tried your folded paper solution and phone has been good as new for last 6 hours. a Assume it is a poor connection somewhere near the camera lens area where I put the paper. Many thanks.

+Peter Revell Hey peter I wonder if your G3 is still working flawlessly after 3 weeks. Thanks in advance.

Hi. Unfortunately my LG G3 went faulty again the day after your comment to me. (On the plane yo my holiday). I've tried the repair several times since but cannot get it to work. May be time for a new phone. :-(

This worked perfectly for my daughter's phone! I used a small piece of electrical tape rather than paper... rolled up a few times and trimmed down to the same size as the connector. Too thick and the back won't snap back on, so a little trial & error. **EDIT** Apparently it was only a (very) temporary fix. My daughter told me that it started acting up on her again the next day, albeit not as bad as before. :(
