Thermal paper is a specialty paper most commonly used for reciepts. I've managed a couple different retail stores yet I still spaced on exactly what thermal paper was...finally googled it and that solved my problem with no hint of any wifi issues. Easiest way to verify it's thermal paper is to tear off a small piece and burn it, the reciept has a thin chemical layer that will cause it to turn black once lit. I'm not afraid to admit I'm a dumbass and had no clue what it was so if anybody is as unsure as I was, hope this helps...Big ups to the peeps who share their wisdom with these common problems with electronical devices. It also makes me feel like I'm a low level electrical engineer now haha...a certified IT/PC specialists at your service!

worked for me. I just cut a small square from an old credit card and placed on the wifi chip and put shield back on and reassembled. Worked the first time.

this is the ic for wifi/blutooth. if phone making problem so change that ic. by the way lg g3 is bad phone by hardware...some time it happens because of cpu.if your phone also restarting it sure cpu

I had to put a second little square on top of first one because wifi was going off again. And put shield on as best as I could. And when I put back cover back on it created more pressure to push chip on to board. Been working awesome. Thanks again!

no need glue to pase thermal...thermal itself has glue.you can find in computer hardware shop.it mostly used for computer cpu fan

thermal past is used to heat consumpution purpose,mostly in computers upside the cpu chip.it protects cpu from overheat.and you your phone stop working because of heating chip.

I tried that and it worked for a week so took plastic out and tried again lasted a day, I found the problem lies with the chips., best thing I found was to get an hair dryer and put it on hottest setting then put it close to the chip also do the big chip processor get them hot fir about 3 minutes then press them hard with something flat , and it worked, i think when they get hot then cold o e period of time they come very slightly loose so heating and pressing Dickens the solder

yes, you can also do it by desolding cpu then reball it and paste again.it can solve 80% problems because mostly cpu heating cause stuck and restart problem.

I changed my LG G3's BT/WLAN chip one week ago. Had heated the chip couple of times to resolder it back and now I ended up changing whole chip as correction lasted max 2 weeks... New chip worked one week and problem became back. From that I can see that the real rootcause is not on the BT/WLAN chip itself, as brand new chip get's broken quite soon. I will resolder chip again (just by heating) and add thermthal mat as you did. What I think is that there is SW error on IC driver, which directs too much current to tiny chip, whichi causes the chip soldering to broke. Thus fixes without proper SW release from LG does not correct the problem, just pushes the new occurrence forward... I hope that re soldering + increasing cooling with thermal pad will help a bit longer, but anyways nothing can be done without LG providing new firmware with corrected BT/WLAN chip driver SW. Do anybody know it there more new BT/WLAN drivers on custom ROMs?

My phone worked fine for 18 months. Then it had these same problems. A new battery did not help. I got a new plan with an LG G6. I would like to fix the G3 to use for pictures and wifi. I may try the fix with a piece of credit card for thermal pad.

I think it has something to do with the battery because I had the bootloop issue before the wifi not working issue.. and i made a temporary fix for the battery until i get a new one. I dissembled the device again yesterday, i don't have thermal pads so I used a piece of plastic but this time i put some toothpaste instead of thermal paste " also temporarily" and puteverything back together and so now it works. I hope the problem doesn't come back .. and I can't wait to get a new battery.

yes brother its cpu ic problem....as you heat it will work for some time...and battery drainage problem...it has only one solution to change cpu chip otherwise no solution
