YEA !!! SOMEONE ACTUALLY SPEAKING!!! THANK YOU.... I WENT THROUGH ABOUT A HALF DOZEN VIDEOS TO FIND THIS ONE
@ALPHAJACK787 жыл бұрын
Good video but I just wanted to let everybody know at two minutes 57 seconds on the video you’re pointing to the memory chip, what I did was apply heat from a 1500 watt hair dryer to the center chip, for 10 minutes, 1/4 inch away, reassembled the phone and was able to boot up and recover all my important info, pics, videos, etc. Now, I said that to tell everyone that I’m sure it’s not a permanent fix, but it was enough for me in my circumstance to get what I wanted, then do a factory reset and destroy the phone and never buy LG products again. Thank you for this video and your services to help others, it was very educational.

I had my photos and all in a micro sd card. Then it got full. Only took me like a week to get a new one. Problem was: we were on vacation during said week, meaning loads of important photos taken daily, that I didn't have the time to backup because it stoped working still on said vacation and I was going to do it once we got back home :(

@@MPRF12345 I know this is easy to say, but: when traveling, especially anywhere other than in a major city in a first world country, assume that you will have problems and prepare for them. For example, I always have a spare empty large capacity uSD card for my phone, and at least one spare battery for the phone, plus at least one spare of every kind of cable that I normally (and perhaps not normally) use. None of these take up much space. I even always have a spare phone. And I do all this even if I am going to downtown Manhattan.

Just for anyone that didnt know, the boot loop failure is a thermal failure! You can put you lg g4 in freezer for 1hr and ne able to start it up to download info on computer for 5 min! Rinse repeat till all needed info collected.

We've heard of both freezing and/or heating as possible solutions to the boot loop problem.. If it works for you that's great. We've been getting 100% of these recoveries for some time now. Our chip-off data recovery is an option after you've tried everything else and nothing has worked, and the pictures on the phone are really important to you.

Is it possible to install the eMMC chip to another g4's motherboard? How much temperature does the motherboard and the emmc support after they become unusable?
@flashfixers81806 жыл бұрын
I haven't tried this before, but it should work. I try to keep the heat under 400C.
@patrikstaron6 жыл бұрын
You should also reball the chip properly and position it correctly. It is kind of a hard one. To do resoldering, choose balls with melting point that are fine with the maximum temperature the device can get to, so that something like bootloop on snapdragon would not happen to this chip. Then heat the board in a linear fashion and the chip as well to melt the balls on the board. The multi-layer board can withstand temps up to 400°C for about 10 minutes but do not bend them. This is and extreme situation. Use as little temperature for as short time but enough to melt all the balls and all the pads both on the board and the chip. The chip temperature depends on the technology and internal parts. For soldering, follow the steps of [pre-heat, pre-reflow, reflow, cooling]. There are temperature/time graphs on the internet (reflow soldering graph). Adapt them to your needs.

Thanks for the video. The way I usually do it is running a beveled iron; LEADED solder, over the bottom of the BGA after removal. After I have enough solder on each sphere, evened out as much as I can. I rub it over a piece of paper until they are even, and replace. I like your method - Can please please link the exact model of the SD adaptor/reader for me? That seems like a cool alternative in case something goes awry with my method. Thanks in advance.

Anyone ever have some of the solder mask (from the motherboard, the green resin coating) come off with the chip!? At first I was worried that I left some of the chip on the motherboard, but nope, it's just a layer of the green stuff glued to the chip! (I have a decent rework station, I thought, but I was wondering if it wasn't hot enough. My final round was with 740 degrees F, because it just wasn't doing anything for way too long!) In any case, thank you for the great video!

Thanks Alan! The soldering tip is flat angled angled tip. It's important to put the chip on a flat surface. I use some flux when removing the epoxy underfill. A solder braid also helps, but be careful not to scrape the chip too hard and expose the etches.

If you watch videos on youtube there is a way that mostly works to get the phone to reboot again by taking the phone apart and putting something inside the phone that when you put it back together it applies pressure to the chip. then the phone boots without issue. I have done that to a few phones. Sometimes the phones will work for ever and other times it's just a temp fix. the only way to repair the phone is to reball the chip that is getting the pressure applied too. There are youtube videos showing you how to do so.

Like anything, your technique and confidence grows with practice. I've done hundreds of chip-offs.. but you still have to be very deliberate and careful with each one because you only have one chance to do it right. I'd suggest that you buy some used phones to practice on first, before attempting on your own. If you'd prefer to have it done professionally with best chance of recovery, or rather not buy the equipment for infrequent use, you're best to hire a data recovery company with a proven track record to do it for you.

I always thought these nands were better encrypted Does a method like this exists for iphone?
@flashfixers81807 жыл бұрын
iPhone NAND memory has been encrypted since iOS 4, so this method won't work. For new Android phones with factory installed 6.0 or higher, encryption is enabled by default same as iPhones. Legacy Android devices 5.X and below (AND those that upgrade to 6.0) can still use the chip-off method for data recovery. Some newer phones (eg. Samsung Galaxy Note 5, S6, LG G5) use UFS memory instead of eMMC. UFS requires a different fixture and programmer, but that's another video.
