As I posted elsewhere, LG actually put WORSE cameras on the "updated" G8X than they did on the older G8. The selfie camera is better, yes, but the two cameras you're really going to use for photography are both worse. The light gathering on the G8's main camera was F1.5, which has been gimped to F1.8 in the G8X. The light gathering on the G8's secondary camera was F1.9, which has been gimped to F2.4 in the G8X. I think LG has a winner here. They pioneered the wide camera angle which has now become a mainstay and now they've made the dual screen capability easy and affordable. The Microsoft phone won't be out for another year so LG hopefully will be able to win over early adopters. They've really hit a good note with this price point. This is a way better deal with the dual screen, standard 128gigs of storage, headphone jack, and a wide camera angle than the pixel phones. Imagine the potential for gaming on a device like this! Just like you showed, you could have it in landscape mode and then have one screen with gaming controls and the other showing the game itself. You could record in high quality WAV format, you could put a limiter, a wind cut filter, set the incoming source volume, and monitor all that directly from your headphones. You could also record on top of some existing recordings or songs. I would be EXTREMELY grateful if you could answer this question. Samsung has real foldable phones. No need for plastic cases with a second notch screen. LG is the copy cat here.
@ShaiyanHossain5 жыл бұрын
@@Standgedicht except that with the price of ONE galaxy Fold you can get THREE LG G8xs, each with the dual screen case as shown here also since the G8x is IP Rated and MIL-STD rated, its considerably more duable than the plastic screen Samsung uses for the Fold which has been shown to get dirt under it and/or hard touches ruining the display

@@Standgedicht Actually LG showed this at ces in January, and has sold over 5000000 LG V50 dual screen phones in Korea, so Samsung as usual is the copy cat hear, and you can use it as a single phone if you want. LG Prada, first all touch smartphone with downloadable apps, not samsung, first dual cam triple cam, 1440p, curved oled, back fingerprint scanner, 18/9+ thin bezel, HDR, MQA certified, tof based secure face id and secure fingerprint scanner on the same phone, yes samsung was also first or nearly first with a ton of things to and make the best screens, have the great pen base note series, dual aperture lens, iris scanning, but hey their notch is about the same as samsung's' "NOLE", and LG was first with the notch on the LG V10 and V20 way before sharp, essential and apple. Give LG a little credit, you can bet, samsung and apple and microsoft will refine polish and release their version of this and call it innovation.

This is the most innovative phone in long time. Dual screen makes much more sense than having one large and very fragile screen a la Galaxy Fold. And they've managed to do it a a very sensible price.

@Tigerex9665 жыл бұрын
you could still use a stylus on the touch screen, with a rubber tip, not as good as the note but doable.

No doubt LG has done a lot of work for developing a phone like this. One thing i noticed is can we set the brightness of these displays independently or what if i played a song on one display and watch a video on other and how does the sound will be coming from the speakers

I actually root for LG (sadly not much ppl give attention to it even though it always come up with things that are actually user-friendly) I owned a LG G Pro 2 (2014 phone, ancestor of the V series). It's probably one of the few phone that first came with floating apps AND dual app on screen (limited to certain apps only) before Android officially making it into a thing. It's also the first (at least from what I saw) that provide "back unlock" instead of the mainstream "side unlock", together with the volume control, which is a actually a very practical design as it goes with the natural position of finger when you grab your and try to unlock it/change volume (love that). It came up with a bunch of really useful built-in apps that I could save the time finding and downloading extra apps. E.g. a quick lanuching note-taking app (long holding vol+) which could be used at to do BOTH screenshot+quickly write notes on it AND plain notes like memo that you can draw/write on, a notebook app that allows you to write, insert pics, drawings and arrange notes like a real notebook, a build-in music player that not just automatically find lyrics online for you, and could allow you to rise/lower the tune of song. It also got features like "double tap to wake up the phone" (nearly the only one got that built-in in the market), quick calling apps from pull down menu, quick calling camera and note-taking app by long-holding volume up&down, single-hand mode (not Android built-in if I rmb correctly) etc. And more to that, it comes with a 3GB Ram, which although it's nothing now but is very rare back then when 2GB Ram even 1GB Ram are dominant. I brought it without much expectation but it turns out to be a big surprise and I was very satisfied with the phone at the end (still appreciate how practical the phone is). And although I didn't buy the following phones, LG still pretty much one of the first and few that got Hi-Fi and military grade in protecting against vibration (dropping). Those things may be common in the phones now, but it isn't in 2014. It pretty much got what should be done and done it long time ago. It may not really come up with thing that is spectacular and eye-catching, but it really has things that are user-friendly. It actually made my later phone not as surprising and attractive as it is even though it's newer (makes me sad for a while).

It looks cool, but now you have two phones to charge. If it has some sort of dual wireless charging, that would be more cool. That said, I don't own one, but prefer this to any of those foldable screen phones. A screen with a crease in the middle is just designed to fail. Hard, gorilla-type glass, is the way to go.
