You should try doing a hard reset (factory restore ) and see if that changes anything. After doing So, connect to wifi and try again.

This method definitely works with the posted model, now if you're using a different model, chances are it won't work. Different models have different security features , meaning it may work on a tmobile phone but not with a At&t model (same phone, different carriers). Any chance you know your phone's model ?
