Wiring sketch. If there is some questions maybe something You don’t understand drop a comment will be happy to guide you through. Try it. I’ve done hundredths of these and tested it out many before taking them out for sale. Lots of testing and proved to work very efficiently. Also make sure to do a system flush for better results on your Refrigeration work.

So in the schematic he's showing the line input tied to the inverter output...or is he disconnecting the inverter output and using the wires only? The board in his previous video matched mine, but his labels on this schematic don't. (just tryin' to make sure I don't smoke the circus, you know) I disconnected the cap & motor cables, then used the motor cables to tie to the line, and dropped the relay in the compressor compartment...

Did you come across issue after this conversion with inverter not sensing current draw effecting the function of the fridge? It happened on my friend's fridge so I am looking for solution which may be effecting some other fridges as well. Some may even use thermistors for the processor sense the cooling process working or not. Here is how I found out: While I was testing LG fridge compressor, I disconnected the connector on control board and saw nice voltage incremental rise confirming the board is OK. I tested for PSI while running it and proved no change in PSI confirming compressor failure - 3rd compressor each failed after 2 years. When I disconnected the connector and measured the voltage rise, after about minute or little more the led code blinked 3 times and the system just shut down. I believe that it is the amperage current sensing by microprocessors and when no draw from compressor is sensed, then it turns off. Perhaps some dummy load on the side from the inverter to the compressor which is not connected anymore would help to pretend current draw. This issue with no current draw from the inverter has to be addressed because even if I convert it to standard compressor, apparently it will shut down soon as it did because the inverter is not in use. I hooked up the failed compressor again and the board came to live so it needs some current been taken from the board, at least in my case.

Yes sir! Though Jorge here made a nice video… it is dated for the kenmore later models. I too am working on my own fridge just did the surgery… but like you said, I think it needs a load on the original compressor wires. Perhaps a resistor?
@commieslayer8218
@commieslayer8218 2 жыл бұрын
@@birdman3931ny Did you already test it and won't keep running because of the aforementioned issue with the load? I assume that the load would have to be calibrated to what would be the maximum of the compressor's wattage at the peak. The compressors starts at lower RPM if I am correct and speeds up later on. AMPS can be recorded and hopefully the resistor would make it happen. Resistor with heat-sink secured to the chassis to dissipate the heat is a good option.

Get your people together that you have spoken to, here on this video and let's get our brains on it . I'm already buying a new fridge.... But I will not throw this one out until we crack the code.. Yes... It runs on. No way to break the coil side. I tested 3vety single wire for a switching, on off 12v source. None to be found. 4 wire motors always hot. I think the relay on the board just be breaking the ground side. I also thing that to break the add on relay we are trying to put in, it might have to go to a relay that is already on the board. So when a stock, on the board relay gets energized... The one we are all trying to put install also gets energized.... And de-energized.

This will not work as-is on newer LGs. The inverter board KNOWS when the load is LOW (in this case ZERO) and it also knows when it is HIGH (load=current draw in amps.) You could make this cleaner with an Arduino to current sense the PWM on the condenser motor and throw a relay, but you still have the inverter board throwing an error and shutting things down. I would just get an LG compressor with the latest upgrades and install that, I do warranty repairs on these about one every other day and they are all doing fine. As long as you get a clean install and update the board software you are fine. I charge $400 to do these all day long and usually the compressor is under the 10 year warranty,

The big 30:or 40 amps will not workwith the little wires powering them. ,,fan wiresmfrom the fridge! If you order one get 20 amp rating. You can get KZbin videos telling you the power in location , plus and minus, and the two other connecting prongs that get joined for 5 prong , or 4:prong. Or other number of prongs.

Ok. So every damn refrigerator I have looked at has issues with the compressor and converter. It was explained to me that newer refrigerators in the US are set up for European electricity and the converter gets burned out from the conversion of the electricity to the compressor. Would it be possible to just dedicate a 220 line to my refrigerator to avoid problems? Wouldn’t I have to by-pass the converter mechanism to do that? Electrical work is NOT my strength in life. Apparently appliance repair people will not do this work. Any explanations would be helpful as I don’t have a really good understanding.

I'm going to do this. My LG model # lmxs30796s . Do you pull 12vdc condenser fan signal from con6 or con7? I see reference to c-fan on both although con6 says c-fan pwn.. also, if I am deciphering small print on pcb correctly, colors do not match. On con7, I see 2 violet wires and 2 white/red stripe... or is one of them darker red or maybe reddish orange? I would trace it with voltmeter, but f-fan is exactly next to c-fan and I'm sure once I plug in refrigerator that 12vdc will be active on both condenser and evaporators . Can you clarify? I do commercial refrigeration and never have to deal with a computer overlord controlling everything. There is a t-stat that switches condensing unit on/off and evap fans run continuously.. anyhow, if I have to pull 12vdc signal from condenser fan motor instead of board, which 2 colors there? I see solid red, yellow, black, and violet.. Confused up on board by duplicate violet & red/white on same con7 and they don't seem to jive with print.. A nice close up of your connections would be nice if boards are all generally the same. Mine has the 3 way splitter/solenoid on it.. I assume for customized middle drawer temp? Or freezer? Not sure, this is my first and last LG refrigerator. Thanks, sorry so verbose

@thedraftdept
@thedraftdept 3 жыл бұрын
Well, the problem is that the control board sends variable voltage signals to the compressor. Starts off with lower voltage and slower compressor speeds and increases voltage and compressor speed as demand increases... Sounds a bit like control board forces the compressor to mimic what a TEV (TXV) does. Also, most cell phone chargers I've seen put out 5 volts (not enough) and if you use an A/C transformer, it puts out twice as much voltage as needed and I believe it's AC voltage, not DC . I found a great relay at Grainger and listed part number on one of my other comments. George has never answered me back, so I walked away from fridge for a while. My board is weird and doesn't match what he used as an example or even wiring diagram on back of unit. Everything connected up sweet and it cooled well except refrigerator compartment fans won't run unless in test mode and I checked every wire listed in diagram that referenced condenser fan and could not find the pair that powered down when fans shut off. May tackle later when my business slows down a bit and check the 4 wires that go into fan motor itself. Don't really know why all the 12vdc fan motors in this unit need 4 frickin wires to operate... Seems unnecessarily complicated. Also need to figure out why the compartment fans don't work unless I put board into diagnostic mode.. This is exactly why I do commercial equipment and not residential. They are simple and reliable and all use readily available components and don't have snotty proprietary parts... Even worse than proprietary, every model pretty much use parts unique to that model with only some interchangeable parts.
@thedraftdept
@thedraftdept 3 жыл бұрын
@@dondesnoo1771 Also, I like to keep my work neat and not have random wires running here and there. All my wiring is inside behind panel. Good suggestion using leads directly feeding fan motor. Already thought about that and not much slack to pull harness out enough to patiently test the 16 combinations the 4 wires present unless you know which 2 actually have the 12vdc signal only when the fan runs... I have no clue why a simple 12vdc electric motor needs 4 wires to run... 1 might be sensor feed if variable speed? Pretty sure the variable speed fan motors I see on walk in cooler evaporators still only use 2.. I don't see that many. Heck, a/c air handlers use a bunch of wires, but I understand why... 1 speed for heat, another for fan only, and another for cooling mode. It's unnecessary for a condenser fan to change speeds unless it's an indoor condensing unit mounted outside with pressure control to shut fan off during winter until it builds enough head pressure to be efficient and then back on... Still, not variable... On/off..

This manual should be close to the same as your model. Look at page 23 is the wiring diagram and condenser fan is called C Fan at CON 11 and has 3 wires. One is a feedback signal for rpm to the mainboard to monitor if fan is working, do not use that wire for the relay. Then on page 37 it shows CON 11 is the connector on mainboard and you want to tap into wires 1 and 2 to trigger the 12 v relay. www.uncleharrywizard.com/nephewclub/wizardfrig/lg/lmx28994st-lg-refrigerator.pdf

@@thedraftdept Just curious if you were ever able to figure this one out? I have done this trick successfully to 8 or 9 of these refrigerators but I recently just encountered my first LG with 4 wires for the condenser fan motor. I agree that it is ridiculously over complicated, I think they do this crap on purpose so you have to use the original parts only or go buy another fancy looking piece of junk. It has to put out 12V though correct? Is it a matter of finding the color combination of 2 wires that generates the 12V? For example I have experimented quite a bit on other LG & Kenmore fridges and if you have a fridge with 3 wires to the condenser motor it doesn't matter which 2 wires you use to run to the relay. The dude that posted this video doesn't respond to any questions which is ironic if you are having a KZbin channel why would you post something and give anyone and everyone the middle finger when viewers watch and have questions.. seems counter productive to me but live and let live I suppose. @thedraftdept
@thedraftdept 4 жыл бұрын
Residential refrigeration does not use hot gas defrost and I've only seen that at 1 of my commercial accounts... Hot gas defrost basically works like a heat pump A/C by a reversing valve that forces the evap to become the condenser. Looks like residential refrigeration uses hot electic defrost elements to melt ice from coils on freezer and refrigerator.. Mmkay, compressor has nothing to do with defrost.
