I'll confirm it is the defrost HEATER (that long u shaped coil) that needs to be replaced - not the defrost sensor and certainly not the control board. Third (!!) tech I had come out did what I asked - AFTER I did my own research here on the Tube.

Yes I had to cut this to take out. Now it is working fine since then! :)

Hello! How did u actually remove the evaporator cover? Did u just pull on it? I couldn't remove mine I was afraid to break it. Ur video just cuts at that part you might have needed to use both hands iam sure. Thank you.

I had to cut the side of the clamp. I left overnight to melt the ice for easy removal.

Yes, you can just pull the evaporator cover off - lift it a little bit first to get the tabs at the bottom to release, then (gently but firmly) pull the cover towards you. Be careful of pulling the wires. I'll confirm it is the defrost HEATER (that long u shaped coil) that needs to be replaced - not the defrost sensor and certainly not the control board.

@@circus14 You offered much more complete and detailed answers for someone who is trying to DIY. Thank you. Can you tell me how do you know either to replace the sensor or the heating element? I know I need a electric gauge but not sure what the reading should I look for. I have a LG refrigerator model # LFX28968ST / 04. It is showing F dh code on the display. I have unplugged the refrigerator twice to reset. The code still comes back about a day later. I've checked the water line and see no issues.

So when you got that code, your icemaker quit working correct? My icemaker quit working and then a couple days later I got the same code.

I didn't noticed exactly when it stopped working and when code displayed, but definitely when i see the code it stopped working.
