This helped me because I didn't know what setting to use to get it to drain. I had to take out my whole inner tub and impeller (because it was foul inside and out), and then after scrubbing out the inside of the outer tub, wasn't sure how to get it to drain that nasty water out to start again. Somehow I overlooked the "spin only" option. Thanks.

I just had to pull mine apart last night to put a new clutch in it as one of the bearings went out. When I pulled it apart, I was blown away at how dirty it was. We run the clean cycle regularly. We have had this machine for 7 years. The dirtiest, worst place was the actual drain basket area in the outer tub, under the basket. If you go this far to clean it, which I suggest, get an impact and 38mm socket. Remove the basket and clean that trap/drain area out. It was disgusting. It's something I will do on a yearly basis from now on

How do you get to the drain basket on the outer tub? Can you reach it from underneath the machine? Or do you have to take the entire machine apart (i.e remove the inner tub) ?

Nick, what was the symptom for putting in a new clutch? Mine is now making an 'overly grinding noise' when it agitates. Thanks for the 38mm socket suggestion. I'm planning on pulling the tub on the next cleaning cycle.

Check your washer to see if you have a HOSE Clamp on the inbound side of the discharge pump. If so, that is not a factory connection. Most of the LG washers had to be reconditioned, then sold as new. The hose is 2 inches too short and the travel of the tank to offset a lopsided load will one day rip that hose off. I repaced 12" of drywall in my washroom

So stick to one or the other, bleach would be best. If you use vinager and baking soda remember the bubbles are what clean. Once the reaction is over you pretty much are left with just water. Advise is to stick with liquid bleach product for tub cleaning and always work in well vented space

Curious to know if you leave lid open between washes? Do tub clean cycle once a month with tub cleaner from Bosch? Use no cold water washes and minimal detergent? No machine gets rid of all the water. These machines are basically front loaders turned up right. The LG front loaders actually have a drain hose and coin clean out or filter on a front access panel. These machines would be better if outer tub was stainless steel and fewer plastic parts were used. That being said there are videos on getting the inner tub out and cleaning underneath and removing water that sets there. The built up gunk from liquid detergents encourages mold on plastic. I think the total removal of phosphates from residential use has also created mold and cleaning problems.

That water you are talking about when you move the tub is in the balance ring which is on top of the stainless steel tub and that smell you are talking about is the dirt left on the bottom of the outer tub which is plastic. Take the inner tub out and you will see that there is still dirt in the tub.

I think this washing machine is probably similar to other HE washing machines. It does not get clothes clean. All my "work" t-shirts (those used for working on the lawn, etc.) don't come clean anymore... The whites aren't white. I don't know if this is the detergent, we're still using the liquid HE Tide Free, or the washing machine itself. I guess the different settings are ok. And the tub size is pretty nice. And we much prefer a top loading machine. But clothes don't come clean. No thanks to our overreaching national government. Just my opinion... Mike Sugar Land, TX

That's normal most of the inner basket has that sound has water inside inner basket. That goes for brand of washers.

Take it from me, the mildew you're finding is UNDER the powder dispenser. Pull that out and run your fingers underneath. It will be black. Design flaw. Use Tilex and you're good to go.

I tried that, it smells like an old pair of damp socks, or a sponge that has gotten wet and air dried and wet again, I'm going to try to clean it again, I would like to know if it has a filter.

This video is old yes but the practice show is deadly very unsafe due to his cleaning method. Can you explain why if you are using bleach which is a very powerful cleaner when it comes to organic materials what the reason for Vinegar is? Never mix house hold chemicals. More so never mix them in a small room like a laundry room.

Yeah, obviously I didn't clean it very well, if at all . I tried to reach down as far down as I could with the carboy pipe cleaner. As your previous comment implied, I probably cannot clean it without taking the inner tub out.

All you had to do is use your cleaning cycle with tub cleaner or use vinegar.

Mixing the two can kill you. Educate your self before trying KZbin methods. I’m sure this man had no idea the possible death ticket he was advising you to try. I will explain why it’s a horrible idea and with that. Bleach and hot water is all you need
