if you really want to know, i will tell you. people confuse a lot between gender and biological sex. there are only two biological sex, female and male, and also intersex ( its a real phenomenon, where a person have both male and female genatila, its not considered a "defect" but instead are natural biological variation in birth. all trans people are not necessarily intersex). with current technology, a person CANNOT become the opposite sex, a male cannot become a female, and a female cannot become a male, that is just the truth, because you just cant change your chromosomes like that rigth? but gender is different. gender is considered "subjective", Gender refers to the social, cultural, and personal roles, behaviors, and expectations associated with being male, female. it is socially contructed. a trans man can be considred a man, but not really considered to be male, and vice versa. and to answer your actual question, i personally think there only exist 3 genders, men, women, and people who don't feel like both. foreign teenagers will tell you that there an infinite number of gender, but personally, i just think that is complete bullshit, despite me being a big supporter of lgbtq. and to answer your second question Some researchers suggest that biological factors, such as genetics, brain structures and hormonal influences, may play a role in shaping gender identity, but that is still being debated. not much is known since awareness and acceptance of these people is pretty recent.
