Without a doubt, this is one of the most beautiful and meaningful, and touching Jungle flavours I've ever heard in my life, and I've heard a LOT of jungle in my life... I felt some DIFFERENT feelings when I heard this one... DAMN!

Amazing track! Sounds even better with time. They were calling this style "Intelligent Jungle" back in 1995

One of the greatest albums ever made, IMO this style of Jungle is far ahead and more cutting edge than even modern Dnb.Truly timeless stuff, he was just on another level.

Oh man...such a beautiful atmosphere in this track. The way the drums are mixed low and keep dropping out it's almost ambient. I think that's the famous D50 Soundtrack patch doing the chords in from around 1:39. And maybe the loon garden samples? Takes me back to 96 when d&b had this rolling, flowing vibe - early Bukem, Goldie etc.

I listened to this album for the first time while I was in my college anthropology class. I liked the album, but this song blew me away. It still does

I think it was the Three G's ;) but mainly with Grooverider.

WTF? Why is this even a discussion? it's been well-known for years. Clifford Price & Gerald Simpson. No Grooverider because it's not the "3 Gs"

@droidus Cool man, I really like some of 808 States tunes (including that obvious classic LOL). My old man passed on one of their albums to me back in the day. Cant remember what it was called but it has "Frequency" on it. I didn't know he was part of them, but I guess it makes sense! Thanks for the track name aswel, now I can listen to it again! peace

@nickpcurson Was he the dude that made the OLD house track that he samples in "Voodoo Rage", can the ID the tune for me? This old track, a lot of people probably know it from GTA - San Andreas if they've never listened to BBC Radio 1/Essential Selection back in the day. I was born in 88, so that stuffs before my time, but most of the vibes from my time are rubbish, so I'll call myself a young historian.
sum junglists!? in the 1000s m8 just they all grown up now with familys responsabilitys cant rave for ever dont mean u lost luv for the sound

Well it's better than most of today's DNB but it's a shame that he - like so many house / techno artists in the mid 90s - "went DNB" in the first place. And lost something special as a result.
@Icecream98738 жыл бұрын
If you tie yourself to a genre before even starting to produce, you're limiting your creativity. Just work on some stuff and let some other folks put a tag on it. At least, that's my opinion. Also some dubstep artists aren't that bad, like Burial.
@toodarkpants6 жыл бұрын
maybe the music went south and the artists stayed true

?? he was pretty much one of the pioneers for the jungle n dnb sound

Gerald has never 'lost' anything. He still has all the soul he has put into all of his music. He is still and always will be special, unlike today's artists using Ai with no emotion whatsoever. He really gets a room going.
