I can certainly relate to that feeling. It's one of those that was so awesome I was disappointed to see it end. But I think the length of the game is quite fair for the genre. I've just seen a lot of people blow it off as bad value because of its supposed low number of missions, which is really unfair to the game. It's a quality over quantity thing :)

You know, "Saturnine" -the main designer of this mission is one of the most famous Thief 2 fan-mission authors. He got hired by Arkane based on his modding content.

I don't even know what I'm reviewing next week, let alone the ambiguous "near future" :) That said, I would like to cover at least one of the Humongous games at some point. Probably Putt-Putt Goes to the Moon, since that was my favorite when I was a kid.

Heh, didn't know other people were playing it. I don't blame them, since it's one of the more awesome-looking missions areas and is relatively straightforward. Almost feels like it's tailor made for making quick commentary on the game.

Have you played it to the end yourself or are you regurgitating this from the naysayers? Because that highly misrepresents the game. Dishonored is easily 15-20 (or more) hours if you take your time playing it, with a ton of replay value since there are so many ways to play through it. Who cares if there are "only 9 missions" if each mission can take a few hours to complete and is extremely varied in the approaches to take within?

Been able to do that quite a while, since it's available DRM-free on GOG :) But yes, it coming to Steam is exciting to those that prefer it!

I have a "Daggerfall fund" ready, hehe. Waiting on a complete, great condition holographic box is what's holding me back. So often they're missing things or in awful shape, or are a later release without that awesome reflective cover. Waited a couple years to find my copy of Arena, was so worth the 70 bucks.

I have to say, it's a shame this game with similar elements to Thief made a better Thief game than the new title itself. That said, I thoroughly enjoy this game.

Ronny Webster not surprising since the developers of the old thief games made dishonored. that new thief game was made by a different studio.

Personally, I thought it was a very neat idea and a welcome addition. It not only changes the world around you, but the story details, who your allies are, the ending of the game, etc.

Anyone? No, not anyone. I played Thief and Hitman religiously, and I loved Dishonored. The majority of gripes people have with it I find don't affect my enjoyment at all.

PC, if you have the rig to run it maxed out. Though if you're concerned about having the hard drive space for a single game, I'm just going to assume you might not have such a system. (It's only about 6 gigs, by the way.)

Ah, the source I used was incorrect. He was indeed a tester on System Shock, but did work on design with Thief Deadly Shadows.

I have done some voice acting (I was in the game Gas Guzzlers recently, for instance) so in that sense, yes, I've considered it! Though not as a full-time gig or anything, just haven't stumbled into a way to make that viable.

When I played through this game, I literally slaughtered everyone. EVERYONE, even after I saved them, if they were not key characters they died.

There's a TON of replayabality.Plus if you play on harder difficulty or want to go through each mission without killing you're in for one hell of a long experience.

[SPOILER] Yes it is Jessamine's heart. If you point and use the heart at the people who were involved in the murder of the Empress the heart will say things that reveals the heart being the Empress's. Vera Moray aka Granny Rags hints this as well.

I guess, but for in TB's WTF is for example, he kept talking about how you could use the abilities and such, but the gameplay in the background was mostly him walking around the Boyle estate, nabbing some stuff and then finally knocking Lady Boyle out. It didn't demonstrate much.

The similarity of the art style to Thief and Half-Life 2 is beautiful. (are you sure this isn't a parallel universe City 17?!) I don't like the menu style though. I don't know why that's so popular in games right now.

Yes,Sir! I just finished it today,kinda liked it,played mostly sneaky style, up until the last mission,when i ran out of the arrows and started slaughtering everyone :D It was a really good game,maybe thats why im feeling it was short.

I think the shortness complaint is too common, and really misguided. This is a game that really grants the player freedom, and the player can CHOOSE to run through quickly and carelessly. I don't think the game should be faulted for allowing that option. I was at about 20 hours after my first playthrough ended, and was thoroughly satisfied with the length. Already excited to be much more violent for my second time ;)

I think the stealth/assasinations elements are awesome though, i mean its really fluid in how its a mix between hitman and thief. However the story and such isnt very good at all. It would have been just as good without the story about Corvo and just went the hitman route. Steam-magic punk assassin that kills for money. :)

Sorry, I should have specified. I felt the pacifist route was short and the ending was much more abrupt than I cared for. Don't get me wrong, I love this game to death, it's a new favorite, I just felt that it was missing a bit of filler.

The story wasn't very scintillating at all; all of the endings are like cold porridge if you'd equate it to food, and the plot twists were so glaringly obvious I could spot them miles away. I did enjoy making it through the game without getting detected or killing anyone (not even weepers,) but I wouldn't replay the game.

My main gripe is the supremely flawed *chaos* system, its really just not good at all. Its like starwars karma+illogical measurement based on plotdevices. As a stealth game alone its cool but the story/plot-mechanics is just bad bad bad.

Just a quick browse on forums reveals alot of faults and issues with this game, like how a nonlethal run needs atleast reading through a thread made by the developers because of many bugs and logic flaws. Otherwise one looses the 0 casualty count even though one didnt do anything like that.

Holy crap you got that rather cheaply. I saw Arena go for 120$ Daggerfall copy I was bidding on reached 98$ at the last minute, just before I tried my last second bid of 80$, and at the time it said the last bidder bid 50$. So like, last 10 seconds it went from ~45$ to about 100$ I honestly thought I had it in the bag but apparently someone wanted it more than I did.

Borderlands 2 was very very very well written (especially compared to its predecessor, which stirred up the literary critic in me nicely.) Dishonored was not. That's a deal-breaker for me.
