fun fact about seeing seen through walls and in cover 2398789 miles away and for anyone who has experienced it or hasn't played Far Cry yet and finds it off-putting: the last patch for the game completely broke the game and made it where the AI actually can see through walls, or more like they just _don't_ see the walls at all. Luckily, the fine People of the internet have provided a fix for this that can be found with a little bit of searching on Steam, as well as a fix for the FOV and a way to create your own save games through the console so you don't have to rely on the checkpoint system. The game is still gonna kick your ass, though.

Thank you. These videos have never, ever been about showing the "best" or most efficient way to play a game. I never even claimed to be good at the games I'm playing. LGR Plays is here to show people what a game looks like and hopefully entertain while doing so. That is it. If I wanted to do visual walkthroughs, I'd call this LGR Walkthroughs :)

I don't get most of the hate on the AI. It has some flaws and maybe it's a bit too realistic, but that doesn't mean it's bad. A few things to note is that those bad guys aren't blind. The ones in the tower can easily spot you if you run down the beach, they're in a frickin tower with a sniper rifle. A normal human with eyes would see anyone on the beach from that perspective. Furthermore, if they spot you they will call their nearby mates to assist, you can see them waving and pointing and screaming if they see you. Also, AI hears sounds. If you shoot your gun or ride a noisy vehicle, they will obviously hear that and go investigate. Same goes for the alarm, if one of the AI guys triggers it, it alarms all the guys in the base. The trick of this game is to play with that sound and the environment. Hide in bushes and trow rocks to tell the AI to investigate somewhere else. You will be fascinated by how the AI works. Some will search around the area in patterns after they have heard some noises, while some others will stay behind to keep the base protected. The alarm in the first level will also call in a helicopter. If you prevent the alarm from being triggered, no helicopter will come and it will make life a bit easier. In later levels the AI can call in helicopters via radio, if you destroy this radio no helicopters will come either. This game isn't meant to be played like any other shooter by just gunning down everyone you meet. It's meant to be played tactically, think of attack strategies and search for the best routes to your goal. And yes, I agree there are flaws. The shooting through walls at the tents is a glitch from the last patch which was never fixed. The vehicle driving is clunky. Furthermore, this game had a strict deadline, so some of the stuff isn't perfect, but it's a great game for what it has to offer.

You're right. It took me a few play-throughs of this game to get the gist of the AI. That's why it is still one of my all time favorite games. It brings me so many good memories, I get goosebumps whenever I see gameplays of it.

Exactly this. These videos are just for fun, showing me screwing around in a game world for 20 minutes or so. People saying I'm playing it "wrong" are missing the point entirely, I obviously don't play like that for real since it simply isn't going to work. I'm trying to make an entertaining video, that's it.

This is simply one of my favourite games of all time. This game requires a certain style of gameplay. You need to be patient, do your tactics and have a perfect focus on the environment. This game taught me a lot on how to be really quick and precise. Any other fps since felt so easy compare to this one. I've been playing it since it's lunch at least once a year.

Yup, which is why I asked how they could see me, not how they could shoot through cloth. Though they also shoot through other objects later on.
@LGR12 жыл бұрын
Yes, this was (purposely) chaotic gameplay with no real plan of attack. But I don't think my attack pattern has anything to do with the AI seeing and shooting through walls and objects, frequently aiming dead-on from across the map even on lower difficulty, or being unreasonably good at detecting you even when sneaking around. I take issue with AI constantly utilizing cheap shots and being annoying, regardless of tactics.

Chaotic is fun but you have to go slower and stay hidden in this game. Kill the one who can see you, then move in. In real life, if you walk in front of 3 guys with guns and start shooting you would get killed just as fast. At the end you walked up in front of the ship on white sand while a bunch of guys are up top keeping a lookout. They'd see you, easily. Have you played the much newer Rainbow 6 Vegas 2? Now they will shoot you from across the map and though a fence, with a shotgun even!

i love it how they did this, it's perfect for a game that's not supposed to be open world completely, but allows exploration and many different ways to get to places and do things compared to most modern fps shooter that are a 100% point A to B, but just a strait line, not turns twist, you know what i mean

You miss the point. This isn't a video showing how to best play it for maximum efficiency. This is me having fun with a game for people's entertainment. Playing it slowly and methodically makes for a boring 20 minutes. Besides, it's "LGR Plays" and not "LGR Walkthroughs", I really don't care if I am not the most efficient if I'm having fun playing :)

I literally got this game at a thrift store. When I was 6 or 7 I played the crap out of the tutorial, Because I thought it was the whole game. Because of the aimbot AI. But Soon as I learned the tactic of camping under a desk at a outpost and killing everything I was able to progress. When the Trigens showed up I had my headphones on in a dark room playing the game. I quite Enjoyed Jumping out of my chair and freaking out that there was mutant monsters being experimented on. I thought the whole time it was just bad mercenaries, But later realized that the monsters where hinted in the introduction video. Fun game game overall 10/10.

I'd (we'd) play all of the default multiplayer maps and sometimes custom ones. My favorite one by far was Monkey Bay, very fun map. There was also another whose name escapes me, but it had a radio tower on it and a lot of bridges. Does anybody play multiplayer anymore?

"woah" is right, it was a great intro to start in that dark bunker and walk out to see the jungle below and the cyan blue water out to the horizon. i got far cry 2 for 360 a few years ago and was sorely disappointed by the change of setting, and the gameplay didn't really hook me. i need to get around to crysis sometime soon

@chazbotic12 жыл бұрын
I wrote mods for this game back in the day (now I do STALKER and Crysis mods). The AI doesn't cheat per se - it's just not what you expect from a game. The enemies alert each other once they detect you and attempt to either blind-fire in your direction or move closer. Loud sounds like grenades and rifle shots will travel farther than other attacks. Also tents offer only concealment, not cover. Different materials can be penetrated to different extents with different guns.

plus the bullet holes on your victims would actually stay there and not just magically vanish after half a second. i love the joy of no scope snipe'in a dude in a watch tower from the top of a mountain half a mile away and forgetting about it and then finding him a half hour later while scouting the camp and discovering a huge gaping hole right between the poor shmucks eyes. sadly i dont understand why you could ever dislike this game unless you just didnt like the genre.
