When I did the OU course M203 back in 1981 I recorded the video from a loan VCR cassette. You are allowed to apply to their library to borrow. I also recorded the vast off the Television broadcasts.

@@JohnWhitePercy Have these recordings been sitting on VHS tape seen 1981? If so, they've lasted very well, I must say.

@@JohnWhitePercy Were these on Philips VCR tapes? I have of these tapes but I disposed of my N1700/N1702 machines in 1994. Do you still have access to one of these machines? www.totalrewind.org/philips/P_1700.htm

The recordings were done on VHS mostly BASF CrO2. I recorded them mostly off BBC2. The ones with the timer at the beginning I recorded from the Open university's library service. You could requests videos and they would post them out. I ripped them off the tapes and digitized them using a simple device to my hard drive. Unfortunately, I no longer have the VCR machine or tapes.

The aesthetics and style, even the music, look and sound more like 1965 than 1986. Granted, in 1965 the clip would most likely be in B&W. The "L'Hôpital" skit should have been axed on the spot, but unfortunately that chimed in with the misconceived fad, also very dated by the mid/late eighties, of introducing "humour" and "play" into serious matters as a way of alleviating the chores of hard work and discipline. That, again, looks more mid-fifties or -sixties than 1986.
