I had to go to my friend´s place to play this on his father´s 2.86! His father was always on busines trips for weeks and it was exactly those weeks we spent with LHX. We even built a home cockpit imitation with chairs and desks and mounted keyboard and Joystick accordingly....damn.....early 90ies......adventurous times. Thanky you once again for the memories.

There's something magic with that big LHX and the EA logo dancing around the screen with that music.

it was more than twenty years after using the Osprey here that I finally saw an actual one flying around.

I've wanted a copy of this game for years! Played it at a friends house growing up...and it is on the Fighters Anthology disc I have on my shelf?! Crazy.

Wow, this runs really well. I'm always surprised when games of this era can run at a high and smooth framerate.

It's all fine until the game meets PC so fast that the time flow in game goes into supersonic speeds because the programmer based game ticks on something dependent on CPU speed instead of ... idk maybe RTC. LHX was not one of those games thankfully - I played this back in mid/late 90's on Pentium 75MHz and it run fine and really smooth. You can't say the same about the USNF/ATF series. Well I guess it had so high requirements devs were not concerned that some PCs in the future could run their sim at more than 60FPS. Thankfully they patched Fighters Anthology (v1.02) with frame rate limiter - locked at max 52FPS IIRC. Try running USNF'97 or ATF Gold (both Windows versions) on modern PC...

I always reached stall when trying to convert to plane option, now I believe that is the matter of throttle - I was switching with 50% only in mid-air.

Weird, adlib sound doesn't initialize for me if I set dosbox faster than 3500 cycles but your gameplay looks like it is set higher.
@damsonn2 жыл бұрын
Yeah, the autodetect routine will fail when cycles are set too high. But you can increase the cycle count after you run the game and sound will be initialized correctly (with CTRL-F12), you can set the step value in dosbox.conf, look for cycleup and cycledown values - anything lower than 100 will be percentage of current cycle value, higher than that it will be actual step in cycles, so for instance if you set cycleup=500 cycledown=1000 and press CTRL-F12 it will increase the cycle count by 500, CTRL-F11 will decrease it by 1000 cycles.

Are you running this in DosBox? If so, how did you get the full colour palette? I keep getting dithering, even when I set the machine to vga or svga. Great video btw! :)

Nvm, I figured it out, add: vga high to the end of the exe when running :)
