Im an American currently living in Liege and have been for the better part of 15yrs. You might want to actually live in both places before making such a sweeping accusation. Ignorance is bliss. By the way Liege, Belgium is not now or will it ever be a representation of how Europeans live, eat, sleep, walk or talk. Liege, Belgium speaks for itself not Europe.

That's a very good place for patisserie. Its close to a place called Place St. Lambert which a main hub for busses in Liege. You will find a better place located in the town centre a few buildings down from a Foot Locker. Sorry I forget the name but if you ever come here just go to the lion statue in the town center and it's right there. Can't miss it.

@@jackf1841 "failed part of belgium" yet the Walloons literally carried Belgium to greatness for the majority of the country's existence through steel production, the iron industry and culture while Flanders was the failed backwards region. Not to mention the greatest Belgian inventions/products come from Wallonia; waffles, fries, Fabrique Nationale, the saxophone, the internal combustion engine etc. Without Wallonia Belgium would be a boring and bland dutch enclave. If Flanders doesn't want to stay in the Belgian union France would GLADLY take Wallonia off your hands, we treat Walloons much better than their Flemish "countrymen" treat them anyway.
@jackf18412 жыл бұрын
@@PupusaGirl I’m not even Belgian but lived in Belgium for 8 years and have witnessed the huge difference between Flanders and Wallonia myself. Wallonia may have produced some great things in the past, today it’s a (visibly) poor (and poorly managed) region. Calling Flanders/Belgium a ‘boring and bland’ Dutch enclave without Wallonia is absolutely ri-di-cu-lous. Have you ever visited the splendid historical Flemish cities like Bruges, Ghent, Antwerp, Leuven,…? Imo one of the most beautiful cities in all of Europe. When you compare them to the Walloon cities… Il n’y a pas photo, like they say in French. Flanders has a very rich history dating back to the Middle Ages, when the Flemish cities were the center of art and trade in Europe. The word ‘Bourse’ we use today comes from Bruges (the family van der Buerse). The ‘atlas’ we use today was also invented in Flanders (by Mercator), etc… This rich history is visible today through the wonderful architecture, Flemish paintings (Rubens, Van Dyck, Breughel,…) etc. This creative industry is still present today with their successful fashion industry (Antwerp) and world-known festivals like Tomorrowland for example. And talking about industry, today 82%(!) of Belgian export comes from Flemish companies. When FN is exporting traditional weapons, Flemish companies export advanced weapon systems (and way more) you probably never heard of. One last thing: you say the Flemish don’t treat the Walloons well? When I was in Belgium I experienced the complete opposite: Flemish people always do the effort to learn French to communicate with the Walloons, while Walloons have never (never like in never since the creation of Belgium) done the effort to learn Dutch and to have some basic respect for their fellow countrymen from the north. Even today, they don’t have mandatory Dutch lessons in Walloon schools, while receiving billions(!) each year from Flanders in financial support. Seriously, the Flemish nave no lessons to receive when it comes to respect for the ‘other’ side. I fully support them to become independent, they would be one of the most rich and prosperous countries in Europe. And deservedly so.
