Just tried this with my DX3 and 2s 18650 15c pack. Worked flawlessly. 💪

Works great! I have done this with all transmitters that I use with a 4 cell pack as standard. No issues.

On the flysky gt5 it says you can use a 2s lipo and it even has lipo alarm

nice, yeah the better radios can usually do 2S LiPo, just depends on the model.

cool video. could you please do a video on a rechargeable battery for the dumborc transmitter. it has an extra port on the battery compartment.

That's awesome. I did exactly the same thing + battery. I tried this a while ago but used lipo. Your right, bad idea. I finally seen your vid and went ah-ha. Wheels started turning. And low and behold, I got a smile back on my face with the "Alien Headed" DX5C... LMAO. Thanks for the vid and heads up. Have Fun.

I use NiZn AA's in my Dx4rpro. They are rechargeable and give about 6.8 Volts The controller works really well with them and no mods needed. They do take about 12 hours to charge so I bought 8 of them so 4 could be charging while 4 are in use.
@jamanepitcher85224 жыл бұрын
Can you please send a link to those batteries

But there are rechargeable AA's. what so bad about them?
@RazorRC4 жыл бұрын
I use rechargeable AA's in my RTR radios, but this charges in less than an hour and lasts forever and I only have to charge one battery instead of 4. Just a convenience factor.

I would like to use a buck converter for this but I think I’d wind up crashing when the LVC kicks in.

Does anyone know if this will work in the dx5 rugged
@bansheebandithot3503 жыл бұрын
Yep that’s a good hack . The range of the rc car should be at max . With 1.2v rechargeables bouble aa batts ain’t the same as non rechargeable 1.5v see the difference with range anyone else noticed or just me . Cool 😎 vid thanks for sharing 😎👍🏻🤙🇬🇧

Do you need Life po4 charger or will a regular life charger charge a po4 battery?

Thanx 4 the vid!....(same LiFe batt etc...) So, I got everything all hooked up; works GREAT!. Does anyone know if we should change from "Alkaline" to "NiMh" in settings? Or just leave it on "Alka"? Thanx!

Could you use a 2.62 amp transmitter battery (lipo) in a car?

I don't know where you got your info from but lipo batteries as long as you put them in storage charge mode they last forever and do not discharge and if you balance charge them correctly you never have an issue and a 2S is actually 7.4 volts not 8 volts
@RazorRC2 жыл бұрын
no, when you charge a 2S it goes to 8.4V. 7.4 is only 50% charged. And I've seen several LiPo fires in person, so...
@MrYukon042 жыл бұрын
@@RazorRC lol wrong if you charge the lipo properly by balance charging it it will go to 7.4 50% is 3.7
@RazorRC2 жыл бұрын
@@MrYukon04 sorry bud, you're way wrong on this, put a voltage meter on your 2S next time.
@MrYukon042 жыл бұрын
@@RazorRC I do plus my charger shows 7.4 sometimes 7.6
@RazorRC2 жыл бұрын
@@MrYukon04 you’re not using your charger right. All balance is doing on your charger is evening out the voltages across the cells, you need to use balance charge or charge and you will get the full 8.4v for a 2S lipo.
@TraxxasGemini3.34 жыл бұрын
I’m sure I’m not the only one asking this... Can LiFe batteries suffer from over-discharge same as LiPo and LiHV (Lithium Hi Voltage) batteries? As I know that LiPo and LiHV once you hit that low voltage (3.0-3.2V per cell), you MUST stop using it, let it cool fully and then do a balance recharge or put it on a storage charge (if you keep using your battery past its minimum safe voltage... it will more than likely kill your Battery or worse, become volatile and either catch on fire or explode!)

Not including a charging jack is a big fail. Removing screws to charge a battery is ridiculous.

It would’ve been nice to see how the radio comes apart. I’ve taken all the screws out of mine but can’t seem to get it apart

The grey rubber handle grip needs to come off. Wedge a flat head tool in there and work it off. I know I’m late to this video and comment but hopefully it helps. The screen covering is glued on too so you’ll have to carefully work that off too. These aren’t made to come apart

You mean costly to use..
@rc-daily3 жыл бұрын
The 8.4v isn't to much for these guys. Most have the capability to run 12+v. Years ago remotes took 8 AA batteries which is about 12v. Just like the flysky gt3b. The technology worked so well and was so cheap to manufacture they continued to use the same internals.
@nitrogas57193 жыл бұрын
Do you think I could push 12 volts on my dx5c?
@rc-daily3 жыл бұрын
@@nitrogas5719 I would imagine so but Is it worth the risk? To me it wasn't. Thats why I use a 2s lipo. A 1000mah will last a year before needing a charge
@nitrogas57193 жыл бұрын
@@rc-daily thanks for the information! The reason I was asking was because I wanted to install a range booster and was wondering if I could just run one 3s battery instead of having to run one 2s and then one 3s
@rc-daily3 жыл бұрын
@@nitrogas5719 ahh I see! It may be worth trying in that situation then. I'd be willing to bet money it would work fine but theres definitely a risk.
