One big flaw seemed to be the 'Thakuma' reference...hardly anyone addresses one's grandmother that...a 'Thammi' or 'Thammu' would have been more apt & far more endearing.

There are households where paternal grandmothers are still addressed as "Thakuma"..... Thammi or Thammu is a very new way of addressing one's granny and it belongs to some households of the present generation; not all.
