This is a great explaination with real life visuals, speech that elementary students can understand and digital visuals to go along with it. I've watched many others and by far, this is the best one that I will use for my class! TY!

This is great! I especially like your demo in the gymnasium and the way you've positioned the camera to represent the vantage point of the sun. Then, your description of how the same beam of light striking north vs. south of the equator during a solstice results in two different intensities is quite elegant.

In my mind i was always that spring is green, autumn is red, summer is yellow and winter is white or blue. This is due to the causes that make these color appear in just seasons.

Question so if the earth didnt have inclination, we wouldnt have seasons? or in certain months the earth would be a bit away from the sun so would have some colder/warmer months ?
@LiacosEM
@LiacosEM 5 ай бұрын
The Earth's orbit is not quite circular. It gets as close as 147 million km and as far as 152 million km from the sun. There would definitely be a small variation in average global temperatures as the Earth gets closer or further from the sun, but nowhere near the variation caused by the tilt.

So it's the AREA covered by the same amount of sunlight. It's not the Distance (sop much anyhow). Great explanation. 3:22 explains it really well for me.
@fromnorway643
@fromnorway643 7 ай бұрын
When the sun is low in the sky, each unit of area gets less energy because the same amount is distributed over a larger area, like this: Height Energy per m² 90° (zenith) 100.0 % 80° 98.5 % 70° 94.0 % 60° 86.6 % 50° 76.6 % 40° 64.3 % 30° 50.0 % 20° 34.2 % 10° 17.4 % 0° 0.0 % (if the Sun was a point source of light)

All four pictures are what the sun sees (from the centre of the Earth's orbit). The Earth's axis in all of them was pointing in the same direction.

My doubt is that if the earth is a perfect sphere, there is no possibility for it to be tilted. Everyone says it's tilted, so I understand that the earth rotates on a tilt because it's not a perfect sphere. My question is whether my understanding is correct.

Wait so all the planet experiences the same months in the year, but everyones summer months are different. So based on when they sun is hitting it than that is that part of the worlds summer?? Is Summer a different month in America as it is in Asia?? Thank you everyone for helping me. I really appreciate it.

The northern hemisphere summer occurs while the southern hemisphere's having winter. The months are the same.

@marcyc1695 11 ай бұрын
@@LiacosEM Wait now im more confused. So does that mean its the same months but the north experiences hot and the south experiences it cold. For example im in New York, in July its Hot and summer, so what is it in the south?? Is it hot summer as well??
@TheBillABCTV
@TheBillABCTV 11 ай бұрын
@@marcyc1695I am in Australia but in 2017 i have traveled to NYC, yes in Australia is winter in July and summer in NYC. I also believe the seasons start on the equinoxes and Solstices. Now because the earth is furthest away from the sun in early July that is why in NYC has a longer spring and summer.

@@TheBillABCTV Thank you so much!!!! I was just so confused and im trying to educate myself more. I was never taught this on school and id like to understand the world more. Thank you so much for clarifying it really helps. You answered my question so well. I couldnt comprehend if on the other side of the world (Im in the North of America, NewYork) for example if it would be the hot part of the year while it as cold on my side. I see now that it is flipped. Its confusing stuff. Especially because I didnt realize it depends on North and south hemispheres.
