A legend and one of the most underrated players ever, certainly in Ireland. Football in the 70s and 80s was brutal. Harry Kane wouldn't last 10 minutes. Maradona is my favourite player ever, he had lumps kicked out of him every week which is one of the reasons he ended up a drug addict, even at that he was still destroying teams in Italy which was the number one league in the world in the 80s, where Brady excelled. Cheers from the kingdom. And if you Google ' oh look at that Brady' you can see what he could do..

I played against him once in a local 'road league' under 16 game and he was by far the best player on the pitch , always aware of what was around him and able to read the game and pick out the best pass or when to go on a run. We used to see him play in the local park in Whitehall in Dublin and people knew he was going places with that kind of talent.

Just after he scored you see him run to where I was standing to the left of the goal and as he jumped with his hand in the air he shouted "Fuck the Spurs!" That was a great day for the Arsenal, Alan Sunderland got it going with a goal after 47 seconds! I met Chippy a few times during his Arsenal career and was gutted when he left for Italy. He was so good, he good do anything with a ball and certainly doesn't have the worldwide reputation he deserved.

As a fanatical Gunner from the mid sixties, along with George Armstrong, he is my all time favourite player. I was distraught when he left for Italy. 7 years later I was fire safety officer on match days at West Ham, and was privelidged to witness the last couple of years of his career, including his amazing finale v Wolves, where he came off the bench for a 15 minute cameo. He strolled round the pitch with little glimpses of his class, and, as we entered the final minute, with me assuring all around how good he really had been, he suddenly went past a couple of players and struck a beauty into the top corner from 25 yards! Best finish to a great career I will ever witness!

On this era pitches and rules Brady would thrive. Genuine world level player. Arsenal got good years from him. Despite finishing 3rd immediately after he left Arsenal did not recover until GG took over. A genuine success in italy. Unfortunate to play in an era for ireland where they lacked that one player who may have made the difference in qualifying. Top player worthy of any greatest team for any club he played for. Always said, George Best & Liam Brady were the two best players from around the British Isles. Brady was better than Dalglish, Hoddle, Barnes, Waddle, Gascoigne. The ball was glued to Brady's foot, as he dribbled waltzed, in & out of the oppenents, in that nonchalant style he had. His passes were things of beauty & he scored tremendous goals. He did it in the hardest league ever, full of the best defenders from around the world. 80s scudetto.
