It’s not so much slang, it’s the fact that he’s from Manchester in the north of england. So his accent is thicker than a bloke from the south east (near london) for example. The only way to be able to understand him is to listen to the Mancunian accent more, and gradually you’ll get used to it haha

He's learned that self-deprecation has its own rewards.

The US was the second largest record sales in the world for Oasis after the UK. I was fucking obsessed with them in the mid 90s (still am). Not sure what that interviewer was on about not being big on America. They were/are huge here.
@zero-pl3tt17 күн бұрын
They were huge in America, especially after Morning Glory was released, but in the UK it was on another level, they were gods. They never could've done a gig like Knebworth in the US, even at the peak of their fame there. But still, people do underestimate how big they were in the US nowadays, in 1996 they could've reasonably argued to have been the biggest band in the world at the time, which to be fair they did a lot lol.
@matthewkell291615 күн бұрын
Aye but US has about 5x the population of the UK, that they sold more records in the UK than the US shows that they didn't get anywhere near as big. They did quite well in the US but they were/are one of the biggest bands in the UK, probably the biggest at their peak.
@jesuison15 күн бұрын
@@zero-pl3tt Oh yeah, I agree, they were/are gods in the UK and nothing compares to their UK fandom. That is indisputable. I was commenting on the interviewer eluding that they were not big in the US, though. We were their second biggest market. I was 18 in 1996 when they really hit US radio hard, and that is without even completing a major tour here. That is pretty much unheard of in America. They spearheaded the "Britpop Invasion of America". Everyone I knew back then were huge fans, a lot of guys were even copying their hairstyles and they influenced 90s fashion even in the US which can still be seen to this day... but a lot of the bro/metal/hard rock bands and fans were just jealous that a vast majority of American girls were mooning over the British Gallagher brothers (and Damon Albarn) so they would put down their music as loudly and obnoxiously as possible. It really was that ridiculous. I remember it like it was yesterday. They made a massive impact here, so it is always confusing to me when I hear anyone say they were not that big in America when I lived it. Praying to the music gods that they add US dates for this reunion!
@jesuison15 күн бұрын
@@matthewkell2916 I am not comparing the UK and US market.
@matthewkell291615 күн бұрын
