Liam Hoffman Trappers Hatchet

So i took my Trappers Hatchet for a spin - in the wet forest of Denmark. Not digging in to all facts and measurements you can read that on Liams page.

I LITERALLY just ordered the liam Hoffman trappers hatchet with 19 inch octagonal handle,bulb end,and leather strike gaurd. Now for the wait..... I tried to order for a few times but wasn't fast enough cause they sell out so fast. I did want to add some options but tried to order less so I'd be faster and it worked

I went back and forth with either the Trapper's Hatchet or the Mini Camper. In the end I chose the Mini Camper for no other reason than Mors's opinion that everyone should have a 1lb (450g) hatchet, ideally shaped in a Hudson Bay pattern much like the infamous Norlund. Mors reckoned that that's the basis. That's where everyone should start. I am no expert. I have precisely zero axes and very little experience. So... I chose the Mini Camper because it's the closest one I could find that resembles his criteria. I just paid the initial fee. I don't yet have it. Might take a year. I don't know. I considered buying a Norlund and reviving it but it's difficult to get one a decent shape, and... unlike Liam's axes, it's not hardened so while you can use it as a hammer it will deform. Plus, I prefer supporting someone who makes quality axes today as opposed to a company that hasn't made axes in 50-100 years.

The "Trappers" hatchet is a modern creation and that one looks like the carpenters hatchets that I have seen modified, still a neat concept but I wonder why not just harden the poll without making it smaller, like the old rafting axes or the Council Tool Flying Fox? I still like it, it is a hatchet after all and well made by all accounts!

Yea I been tryin to get one of his stupid axes for litterally forever I ordered my basque axe and got it in weeks

I understand they are not easy to come by at the moment.... But I know Liam is working his behind off to get axes made.... And not compromise quality
