This is stupid, so it is advised not shift to neutral on a stop light to prevent driveline shock. in the other hand if you go to 1st gear, you will need to hold the clutch but Pressing the clutch and keeping it pressed results in pressure on the clutch bearing and it will wear out. Pressing the clutch a number of times will also cause wear of the friction plates each time you engage and disengage. this needs to have a compromise. might as well turn of the engine if stop light is like 2-3 min. countdown.
