Can you show me the empirical evidence of a land mammal evolving in to a whale? Don't bother if all you have is abductive reasoning and extrapolation. I'm not looking for taxonomical similarities and categorisations - I don't care for equivocation arguments. I want to see genuine real time change on the biggest scale. I accept speciation through evolution, and I can see the plausibility as far as genera. But beyond that, it is incredibly doubtful and is only held together through taxonomical similarities. This is a genuine reply. I am someone who is new to evolution and I want to learn the facts honestly and earnestly. If you have an organisms name I can research, I am happy to do so.

@@TaxEvasi0n "Can you show me the empirical evidence of a land mammal evolving in to a whale?" Yes. We literally have fossil evidence of their ancestors, and we know how long ago whales diverged from their common ancestor with the hippopotamus through genetic comparison. "I want to see genuine real time change on the biggest scale." Ah, so like all creations, you don't actually care about evidence. You don't know what evidence even is. Heck, you are so dishonest and uneducated on this subject, that if evidence was presented to you a) you'd just deny it and b) you wouldn't recognize it anyway. This is the problem with creationists: You think evolution works the way it does in pokemon. "But beyond that, it is incredibly doubtful and is only held together through taxonomical similarities." No, it isn't. And if you think that, then you don't know anything about the subject. Which, wouldn't be surprising, because creationists never demonstrate even a kindergarten level education on evolution (and, often, science in general). "This is a genuine reply." No, it isn't. You are not an honest actor and don't pretend to be. You are a creationist shill attempting to waste people's time and effort by putting forward bad faith arguments to try and promote your slavish devotion to bronze age folklore at the expense of reality. You are a waste of skin. If life was an exam, you would get a failing grade. You are an offence to the human race by continuing to use up oxygen better spent on other people. You are making the entire human race less intelligent because of your religious agenda. NOTHING I could say or present to you will convince you that evolution is true, because if you actually cared about reality, you would not be a creationist. You would not be leaving troll comments on a youtube video if you were genuinely interested in research. This information is not hidden. It would be very easy to find if you actually cared. But you don't. And we both know you don't.

Beneficial mutations include things like 1. Lactose tolerance 2. Rich color vision 3. A resistance to HIV 4. Having two different colored eyes (heterochromia) 5. Skin color 6. Hair color 7. Antibiotic resistant bacteria Flavobacterium K172: a point insertion mutation (a single thymidine inserted at at position 98 of allele nyl B) created a new open reading frame which expressed a novel peptide with a unique enzymatic activity: it was capabale of metabolizing nylon oligomers. This occurred in a pond near a textile factory in Japan that was heavily contaminated with nylon waste, and the newly evolved ability to “eat nylon” conferred a significant increase in fitness such that rapidly the nylon-eating bacteria became the predominant strain in the pond. Beneficial mutations can confer an advantage to the organism possessing them and, over time, these mutations can spread throughout a population.

the person this guest keeps referring to is "Alexey Kondrashov" I had to go to a creationist website to actually get the name. However Alexey doesn't believe in YEC and he doesn't pose any arguments against evolutionary biology. from what i could read Alexey has been taken out of context.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure the guest is referring to Kondrashov saying that older father's pass on more mutations to their children than younger ones. That's not "generic entropy", thas getting older and accumulating mutations. Its completely different and also irrelevant.

Looked up Kondrashov and the only references to genetic entropy from him are creationist sites and the only quote i see across several sites is talking about degradation of genetics (in humans) from multiple factors and none of them were entropy. I would look up more but as all im finding on it is from creationists, the whole subject is worthless to bother with.

Adaptation is a thing in evolution, though. It's just a biological phenomenon, by which the progeny of any organism are selected by the environment so those best able to survive in that environment pass their genes on, while those less able tend not to.

The comment on horizontal gene transfer only occurring in bacteria is wildly inaccurate, there are plenty of recorded instances of horizontal gene transfer from plant to fungi in lichens, plant to animal or even animal to animal as some examples.

The only example you need to bring up for evolution is the London Underground Mosquitos. It didn't exist until the underground tube system was built and they can't breed with mosquitos above ground. Boom, evolution of a new species.

If you can only account for past.events but cant make future predictions you have a model, but you need to be able to yest that model to claim you have someyhung like a theor. Howere but since we have been able to make future predictions about what we will find in the historical record. We have been able to make accurate future predictions on historical data!

I thought Peterson was too easy on him. There were a few more epithets he could have thrown in there, I won't mention them as I would get banned by Y/T, but I think we all know what he deserved to be called. Even more annoyingly, he sounded like he was from the UK, most likely London, I am embarrassed to even live on the same continent, never mind the same country.

this man doesn't understand that we have numerous methods for measurement and testing. like my parents, he has the "only if you can observe it" means you can see and touch it. well, we can touch old things, and we can test them in various ways and SEE the data, and we can and do retest to determine the reliability of the data. this is just "i don't want to accept proven science that doesn't mesh with my world view". i know this because i've had this very argument with my own parents on several occasions before finally leaving them after all the abuse i suffered under them.

"All ovservation is in the past," is a bad counterpoint. You're right that his assertion that "historical science" is illegitimate is nonsense. I think a better counterpoint is that the Bible is not a historical document or a scientific account. Even if you take it as such, it presents a hypothesis that is refuted by observational science.

The bible being historical breaks down in the first few paragraphs of the bible. "God said let there be light...." and then some things were created, according to the story...earth, ocean, sky, animals, plants....lastly humans. Okay, so if humans were last on this list, how did they observe all the stuff from before? Apparently they weren't there yet. The absurdites of the story are abundant.

That whole starting bit about historical science and how it doesn't count made me wonder what place it has in a debate about evolution. You dont want to talk about the past on a subject about the past? I guess that also means you can run behind god because that is also in the past.
