@@Buhhhhhhhhhhhh Uhhhh anthology was fun, it made the game series refreshing by making a comedy, funny game about it, while leaving some "breadcrumbs" that leads into blood drive, which I agree turned into something very messy. And don't say anything about Dead Patient, we can't really judge a game that's not even complete, nor did the makers tend to complete it. Hopefully Darkness Distortion can be at least a decent ending for the series--It deserves a well-written ending.

It had been a long time since I had listened to such an inspiring music track. The part at 0:44 is simply perfect, musically speaking; the chord progression and modulations form a perfect sequence of sounds. The melody is fluent, and makes sense. There are no notes which sound off. The bass-line is excellent, its rhythm complements the whole melody. When the main melody repeats at 1:02, the background string ensemble's melody matches the primary one remarkably well. That part is a rare example of musical perfection.

I love how this track stands out so much from the other motifs in the ost. The main section sets up the chord structure that the main motif of the game (an investigatory one) present in all other chapters follows, even though it doesn't actually appear from what I can hear. This is because this is the chapter that you are completely naive, and have no idea what's happening. You are trying to survive, not figure out what's going on. Similarly, you haven't yet experienced tragedy, which is why the hopeful main chorus is reused in the rest of the ost as the bad ending riff, serving as rather than hope, cutting the full chorus short with a tragic finishing sequence of chords. The full, hopeful version, is used later in the game very reservedly, to remind how you felt in chapter 1, and to motivate you to not let the end of chapter 1 be in vain. Oh and Ray of Hope is this song but with reimagined positive versions of the melodies.

I have a hunch that the music playing in the background reflects the characters personalities or the story, or something like that. I mean, think about it, in the first chapter we have Seiko and Naomi (but mostly Seiko) who were optimistic about leaving and hence they had hope, which would be why the Background Music is so uplifting. Then in chapter 4 (& 5), when all the horrors of the children are being revealed, the music becomes more serious and sad..

if you like creepypasta you should play corpse party, it's got some amazing horror if you can ignore the weird fanservicey bits (and also yuka in general she kinda sucks). without going into too much detail cuz i don't wanna spoil anything, they get a ton of mileage out of one specific character's death, like obv there's the death itself but there's also other characters' reactions to finding her corpse including her best friend who lets out probably the most convincing gut-wrenching scream i have ever heard in any piece of media ever with no exaggeration. there's also a scene where someone gets their eye stabbed out and they describe how they can hear the sharp implement scraping in their skull, ik corpse party has a reputation for being super gorey but some of the scariest deaths happen in textboxes against a black background and they use the "telling not showing" method rly effectively to let ur mind fill in the gaps. + there's the whole existential horror of "these ppl are still conscious and forced to feel the same pain they felt at death forever, and because they died either at a point in time before they were born or in a place that exists outside of time entirely depending how u look at it, no one except the survivors remembers who they are, including their own parents" which even all these years later has really stuck with me however i would recommend ONLY playing blood covered ...repeatedfear, it's a remake of blood covered with updated graphics and voice acting so for me it's THE definitive corpse party game since basically all of the games to come out afterward (book of shadows, hysteric birthday, dead patient, and ESPECIALLY blood drive) suck ass. i also would not recommend watching the ova (tortured souls) bc it tries to condense a game that spans over many many hours into only 4 episodes so it's got terrible pacing, the horror has little to no buildup, a lot of key info is either glossed over or omitted, you aren't really given a chance to grow attached to the characters before they die, and the ending they went with for the ova was the worst possible one where only two of the original nine people survive. can't speak to the quality of the manga or light novels tho since i haven't read those

Oh yeah. This whole game is mysterious and sad. Some endings really got me. Especially the true ending and how Naomi will never see Seiko again. Of all people to not make it in the end, Seiko was a pretty sad one. She is positive, humble, forgiving and selfless. She helped Naomi fight the darkening. Seiko's spirit is forever in heavenly host from that point on. Apparently book of shadows is even sadder.

So I searched for another gameplay, just to enjoy it again in a different way. After that I found pewdiepie. I can never forget the characters and the plot even after these many years.
