Because they were obviously not meant to be, and for the same reason why they are nothing whatsoever alike. We all know the only reason Jason was with Liz in the first place, and that was in fact because he was hurt, and so was Liz. They both took comfort in each other because they were both hurt, they were both going through something really horrible with their own relationships. It’s not like Jason physical ran to Liz, she actually came to him first and in all honesty if he didn’t know that Sam slept with Ric then he most likely wouldn’t have slept, or should I say “took comfort in Liz”, why because he would obviously have went back to Sam. Think about it, “the only reason Jason left Sam was because he wanted to protect her”, and “he felt like it was indeed his fault for Sam getting shot and almost dying”. So therefore why would he leave the woman whom he shared many years with, the woman whom he wanted to marry, the woman whom he wanted to start a family with, the woman whom stood by him even when he lost his memory and didn’t know who anyone was, including herself, and then start yet another relationship with someone else and put their life in danger?? I’ll tell you why, because he was lashing out, he was distraught, he was hurt and his world literally fell apart right out front underneath him. Jason and Liz’s little dirty secret was in fact a ONS at first and before he even knew that she could be carrying his child he actually got back with Sam and wanted to make it work, but then he felt guilt about what he had done and started to push Sam away, and it wasn’t until Jason found out that Liz was pregnant and it could be his child when they actually started being together. Because Jason of how was raised and his morals he then asked Liz to marry him due to his beliefs of what the bringing a child into the world means, the same thing he did for Carly when she was pregnant with his brother Aj’s child as well as in the beginning with Sam and when she was pregnant with his best friend Sonnies child, why because he did in fact love and care about both of them and also because it is indeed just the way Jason is. So please tell me how a person can go from being in love with someone, sharing your life with someone, and wanting them to be in your future, then go to just forgetting about everything and running to someone else for the absolute same exact reasons, because in all honesty that most certainly doesn’t say much about their character, that doesn’t show any loyalty whatsoever, nor does it make them look good in any way shape or form, regardless of whatever happened because in the end it it definitely doesn’t justify anything. So considering how long Sam and Jason were actually together, how much Liz knew that Jason truly felt about Sam and how much he truly loved, and seeing all that they have been through together, with her own eyes for that matter, why would she think that he could just forget about Sam like it was nothing and then do the same exact thing with herself by telling her that he loves her and wants to marry her?? Jason didn’t ask Liz to marry him “until he knew that she had his child” unlike how he wanted to marry Sam for herself that is “without having his child”, so again what does that really and truly tell us?? Not only that but when Jason returned back to Port Charles, if he was so in love with Liz and truly wanted to be a family with her and his child, why did he run right to Sam like nothing ever happened, like Liz never existed or she never had his child in the first place, that is like he always did throughout him and Sam’ relationship?? Why did Jason want to marry and start a family with Sam and her son, knowing damn well that he wasn’t even his biological son?? I’ll tell you why again, because Jason never ever stopped loving Sam, Jason never ever stopped being in love with Sam, and Jason knew that she was in fact his one and only true love and the only person whom he wanted a future with, a family with. I get and understand that everyone is indeed entitled to their own opinions and feelings, however regardless o& everything, it’s the true facts that technically only matters and it’s reality of the actual situation!! Just saying 😊

I think Spinelli was right in saying it was Elizabeth's decision. She had lost Lucky to divorce, and she also had her children to think about. Jason hadn't been with anyone,where e had been brokien up with Sam since the summer so he was free longer than Elizabeth had been. Plus, there's also how Elizabeth felt about Jason's line of work, so it's fair to say it was her decision. Jason had wanted to be with her and raise their son with her.
