I am always reminded when I watch this scene, of the difference between how the two men treat Elizabeth. What I notice most is this: Jason's entire focus is protecting Elizabeth. He worries about her, about how this is hurting her. Lucky's focus is only on himself. His honor is wounded. Lucky was selfish. Jason was sefless. Lucky did not deserve LIz's need to protect him from his own foolish choices. It is such a shame TPTB never let Liz and Jason work things out together.

Watching this scene all these years later, I can honestly say that this sequence was really well directed. It was intense. The way the camera kept jumping from Liz to Jason to Lucky to Ric. Knowing when to use close-ups, when to use, for example, a shot of Lucky just over Jason's shoulder. . .It was like Liz was in the middle of a circle, and all the men in her life (in a good way or bad way) were surrounding her and pulling her in different directions. And all of the actors were terrific. From Ric's not so thinly veiled contempt of Jason and under the guise of "for her own good", going so far as to manipulating and humiliating her while making it seem like everything was Jason's fault (or hers); Liz's emotional devastation at her darkest secret coming to light, while also trying to keep her Lucky from being hurt mixed in with not wanting her true feelings for Jason from being exposed; to Jason feeling helpless to protect Liz while also being furious w/Ric. Then there's Lucky, who is enraged at finding out about Liason, while also acting like the petulant child that he is.

through all this Liz looks to Jason for comfort and reassurance. Lucky was a bastard and treated liz poorly. She deserved better and still do. During this time you can see Liason's love grow deeper and deeper.

And not only that, he tried to frame Jason, fired a shot near Elizabeth causing her to fall to the ground, caused another earlier fall b/c he was on drugs, only got clean for the baby and he's calling Jason garbage. If it weren't for Jason, Elizabeth could be dead. Lucky is an insecure child who can't deal with the fact he's not the hero he was for her like when she was raped.

camille guillot Sam and Jason didn't cheat, because they weren't together. At the time Jason had broken up with Sam for her own good, to keep her safe (because Manny Ruiz had shot her). Sam kept trying to get him to reconsider but he wouldn't budge & kept pushing her away. The night she slept with Ric, he was finally going to tell her he wanted her back but when he showed up to the house, he saw her with Ric. Then he got home & was kissed & that's when Liz showed up, the confided in each other & had sex. So technically, no, Sam didn't cheat & neither did Jason.

angien306 well Sam was pissed off & she was no longer with Jason & being that she's a grown woman, she can sleep with whomever she wants. All Jason did was push her away (for her own good but still), if he hadn't she wouldn't have ended up in Ric's arms that night. Jason even admitted as much. Anyways, this is the past & Jasam lives!! Yay!!
