Liathach - Hiking Scotlands Finest Mountain

Liathach. Wow. No words needed really. The best mountain I have ever climbed and it’s not even close. In the far north west highlands of Scotland, there is a place called Torridon. This magical area is a hikers dream and the giant Liathach does not disappoint. This ridge traverse provides anyone daring to take it on with incredible scenery and endless fun. A jagged looking ridge there, we call them narrow arse ridges "razorbacks" in NZ. Spectacular scenery, great effort guys

Great video, did this in 2006. We were warned about the by-pass path being a bad option, unfortunately we reached a point that my wife refused to climb, so we had to use the by-pass. I’ve never been as scared in my life, before or since 😂😂 we were entirely convinced we wouldn’t see the end of the day. It remains one of my most treasured memories, & my 10 year old son has repeatedly requested I take him up there 😂😂 one day…hmmm

Quite agree.. mid way and wondering whether to take the 'chicken run' as folk called it, or go over the Fasarinen Pinnacles, a chap coming the other way said the so-called easy route is much more dangerous and exposed.. Pinnacles were great.. good handholds and never a feeling of 'getting stuck'!

Not sure what you're using for insect repellent but "Skin So Soft" from Avon is the best Ive had tried & tested (Lakes/Europe/Aus & NZ) 👍

I was hoping you had a 'big' trip planned for this albeit soggy summer, and you give us the Liathach traverse!😃. Once again your video quality gives such a glorious sense of being there. My own stravaig along this mountain some years back is etched in my memory, for the same reasons as yourself, a continuously varying magical mountain scenery that is Torridon! Oh, and solid rock underfoot, and often hand, end to end. Choice of camp on soggy ground by the lochside in prime midge season not recommended! But the views were everything. Only problem now is waiting a week for your next episode. I'll guess and say Beinn Alligan?

Great video but think I'll stick to just driving past Liathach on the road to Torridon. That "bypass path" looks genuinely terrifying. You've got far much more courage than I ever will.

Well done, guys. Yeah, what a place eh? Not sure which is worse, going over the pinnicles, or taking the bypass path. I remember taking the bypass path many years ago and seeing the road in the glen between my feet!

Lucky guy - you're living my dream. ive wanted to visit since i was a kid, im an Elliott so we have history there, im Australian and have 5 year old kids, at the age of 32 i dont think ill ever be able to visit :(
