Nice one Josh, it's great to see a politician talking sense and prioritising people over soundbites and personal gain. The MOJ's position makes no sense at all but I'm not surprised, they categorically do not care about anything except avoiding accountability. At the point of sentence every person is risk assessed and one of the questions on that assessment is whether DA was a factor, how difficult is it to use that assessment to decide whether someone qualifies for early release??

So they lied. They must have known that there is no “domestically aggravated” title at present added to the type of conviction before they promised us that no domestic abusers would be let out early. They could easily have checked all violent offenders in the eligible tranche for early release to see if they actually were domestic abusers.

Whether released early or completes sentencing, the absusr will return to the streets, so the victim will always be in fear. What does that mean then?! They cannot be in prison forever.
