I was a production assistant on Spiderman 3. Louis Ferrigno walks into Stage 30. He steps to me, shakes my hand and says, "Hi, I'm working on a show King of Queens here on the lot. Is Toby available?" My jaw dropped. This legend to anyone under the age of 40, 50 years old actually feels like he's got to qualify himself as to why he's there on the Sony Pictures lot was shocking. As if it's possible to not recognize who Lou is! "Sure, Toby's over on stage 15. Here, I'll walk you over there!" I sometimes wonder if Mr. Ferrigno knows just how much of a Hollywood icon he really is!

I met Lou Ferrigno and Bill Bixby in late 1979 on a shoot at Universal that was set up like a carnival. My buddy worked security and was helping me try and get a job there. He asked if I wanted to watch them film The Incredible Hulk, and I said hell yeah! Both were super nice. I was already a fan of Bixby from the show The Magician.

It's so much healthier to be thinner than have mass. A person who can run 20 miles is in way better shape than a person who can bench 400lbs. A lot of lifters.realise this as they get older. My buddy lifted his whole life.. And now in his 60s he's way more proud of how much distance he can put on the treadmill than how much he can deadlift

Ferrigno returned to bodybuilding, competing for the 1992 and 1993 Mr. Olympia titles. Finishing 12th and 10th, respectively, he then turned to the 1994 Masters Olympia, where his attempt to beat Robbie Robinson and Boyer Coe, he officially retired 14 years after this video clip.

The difference between now and the 1970s was that superstars back then were truly and genuinely the cream of the crop in their respective fields. They were like real life comic book characters who stood out due to their unique special power. Today it's just a bunch of snarky posers who don't stand out as top tier at anything special. But today's stars think they're greater than everybody. Yesteryear's talent was so much more humble and so much more dedicated to their art.
@PRINCESS-zz3wq3 ай бұрын
Yeah its clear that "they" are choosing who becomes mainstream famous and the people aren't. The People just follow in what is promoted obviously. It's important to not lose hope in all the amazing talented artists with heart out there, lots of talented young artists that need support.

What a funny bit! Liberace was truly a master on the piano and Lou Ferrigno is a 1st class gentleman who by this point in his career was around 290-300lbs and would have completely destroyed a 220lbs Arnold Schwarzenegger in the 1980 Mr. Olympia... Arnold would be the First guy to admit this... he says it in the beginning of Lou's bodybuilding comeback movie "Standing Tall"
@mmeatheaddd8 жыл бұрын
+Jimmy J like arnold was anywhere near top shape in 1980 lol.rememeber arnold is only 3 or 4 years older then lou and arnold retired when he was 28,think about what would have been if he kept training.take a look at 75 even then arnold was not in his top shape,to see it you have to look at 1974 mr o. when arndol made everyone look small.fyi that was the year he wanted to retire but pumping iron movie made him go one more year.if arnold kept training he would have won the MR.o until he choose to retire.
@jimmyj50358 жыл бұрын
+mmeatheaddd Arnold said that if Lou would have competed in 1976 that he would have Won the Olympia and that Lou would have been the Greatest Mr. Olympia of All-Time. Arnold has openly admitted that Lou was more physically gifted than he was.
@mmeatheaddd8 жыл бұрын
Jimmy J thats not what arnold said and no lou is not the most gifted.arnold was referring to the FACT that he wanted lou to take over when arnold retired,no where did arnold say yeah he would have beat me at my best every year. look at the gains loe made when he started competing again,you dont think arnold would have done the same?please.again take a look at the 74 mr o you cna find it here on youetube,arnold is massive and in shape like he never was before,no one could touch him,no one.if he would have never retired arnold would have won 10 straight.
@jimmyj50358 жыл бұрын
+mmeatheaddd Just watch the beginning of Lou's Documentary "Standing Tall" and you'll see what I'm talking about. Arnold is being honest, he and Lou are really good friends so he has no problem acknowledging Lou's greatness.
@mmeatheaddd8 жыл бұрын
Jimmy J i seen it many times and i think you need to do more research and not listen to people trying to sell/promote a video.did you hear arnold give everyone permission to slap lou in the face one year at the mr o? arnold beat lou in 73 74 and in 75 arnold was the king,matter of fact lou looked better in 74 then he did in 75.28 years old arnol reitres at the top if he kept going he was and would have been unstoppable. like i said check out that video i linked and you can even find pics of lou in that 74 mr o as well,its not even close.hell look at the gaions arnold made from 70 to 74,some like to say serg was better then arnold in 70 and 71 but dont say jack about 74 ansd 75,why?because arnold supped everyone= making gains.

In this video it's 1980... The 3rd season of the world wide hit T.V. show the Incredible Hulk. At over 300lbs of pure muscle, Lou is Literally the Biggest T.V. Star in the World. Had he decided to compete in the 1980 Mr. Olympia he would have dwarfed defending 3 time champion Frank Zane and humilated the scrawny 220lbs Arnold Schwarzenegger who in his Worst shape ever, still won the Olympia...
@Danimal776 жыл бұрын
Arnold actually only weighed 212-213 pounds onstage at the 1980 Mr. Olympia. He was closer to 225 pounds onstage at the 1975 Mr. O. In 1980, Lou was closer to 280 pounds at this point of his life. His best ever shape was in 1982/1983 when he was getting in shape for his Hercules role where he weighed between 262 and 271 pounds.
