Here's a thing you might not be aware of that may also surprise you...there are a lot of Liberal voters who don't support the direction the party has been going; who don't support this gov't at all. As well, there are plenty of those "in the middle" who generally leaned left that are forced to lean right even against their instincts. I'm going to assume that there are those within the party that also don't like the direction things are heading. This is not a recognizable Liberal gov't; it is something else. Fortunately this Liberal chose to speak out as all of them should be doing...well, should have been doing all along, really.

@@Future_Ghost76 lol go straight for the insults mr grouchy. This bill will do nothing to sensor individuals. It is not Nazi or Soviet related and it does not give Canada any direct control over the algorithm, it just tells KZbin to do something with said algorithm. If Canada wanted to sensor people... Canada can call up KZbin and say "hey, we need you to censor x individual because they are making threats on your platform and do this by the authority of whomever my boss is" and they will likely do it anyway regardless of the moral implications. Like... do you people think the government of Canada needs a bill to do any of that? Any country, anywhere can and will do it and KZbin out of a sense of self-preservation will happily do it. Do you think KZbin actually cares about you or your right to free-expression? F*ck no. They want to make money and if shadily suppressing people is what it takes, to remain in any good graces of any government, KZbin will comply with a smile on their face. You people are barking at the moon.

Ideological unity between academia and political parties. ALL schools push liberal narratives today. Anything outside of liberal ideologies are shut down in schools, colleges and universities. 4. They then pushed the propaganda that this was to protect the people from fake news. Now Trudeau realizes the same thing, I suppose at the behest of his WEF advisors. Now it’s unreal how much the CBC and mainstream media are subtlety promoting his agenda, they are so subsidized and under control of the government. Now we have Bill C-11 and internet censorship and the propaganda from government and the CBC is that this is to protect us from misinformation. This is In the Nazi style! What’s next? Who is to protect us from overreach of government? Also, the next step of Nazi agenda was to disarm its citizens so they can’t fight back. This too the Liberals are attempting, disarming law abiding citizens; it’s not about fighting crime as they want us to believe. This is happening here. It must be stopped!

@@adam346 it gives the government more control over algorithms that determine what gets recommended to Canadians online. So if you want to create content, it better meet what the government considers “Canadian Content” otherwise it will be surpressed. The guise being that the government is saying they are doing this to be more inclusive and to protect culture. Quite literally the words of authoritarian governments throughout history. Everyone knows big tech companies pick and choose to suppress or promote certain content they want and does this through their own algorithms and for their own business interests. The government wants to do this as well and it is definitely not for the interest of Canadians because Canadians can think for themselves and it’s ignorant to believe that the government will use these powers to help Canadians and not to silence Content or Canadians expressing views that paint the government in a negative light
@adam346
@adam346 Жыл бұрын
@@rj5929 LOL ok, Canadian government can already do that if it wanted to. It does not need C-11 to do that. Neither does the US need a bill to actively do that either... No major nation on the planet needs any sort of legislation to do that. Lets say our head of Canada's Security services says "hey, this guy is talking a lot about terroristic threats (or what could be perceived to be) on youtube and talking about over-throwing the government violently" he can just call up KZbin via their Canadian branch and say "hey, we want this video deleted or suppressed due to security concerns and or public threat issues" and KZbin will do it. The concept that Canada monkeying with the algorithm to show more Canadian content to suppress people.. is weird. First of all: how would the CRTC even know if KZbin is complying with this mandate? They won't 99% of the time. Every other major streaming platform literally just has "Canada" tabs and put them on the front page. It is quite literally only KZbin this is an issue for and it's quite literally already a non-issue given how much power the government can already exert if it wanted to... with or without this bill.

I Thank Mr. Richards for his speech and comments and hope it weighs heavy on the minds of all involved. I also hope the opposition parties do not shout about this "great win" which may further discouraging such actions from fellow parliamentarians in the future. @@rj5929 you cannot produce content calling for violence, the removal of people by force, the death of or other specific forms of "expression". We also have liable laws and slander laws... on top of protected classes such as gender expression, sex, sexual orientation, age, race or ethnicity. So you cannot post a sign in your shop "does not serve gay and black people" or "black and gay people need not apply". Sure you can *say* these things but to produce a pamphlet or brochure or sign about it with the intent to spread the message is a different subject entirely... these all mean you only have "certain" freedoms of expression. Sorry to say...

@@adam346 you were the one being a stickler about there not being actual free speech in Canada as it is an American term and I was saying that we have in our Charter “freedom of expression” and that is basically free speech as speech is a way of expression. You were being a stickler for terms that basically mean the same thing so I was being a stickler on what the actual charter says. It doesn’t say freedom of certain expression it says freedom of expression. Obviously you can’t use hateful rhetoric directed at someone or use “murder” as a way of expression. Just as obvious as the fact that freedom of expression is freedom of speech. Yet you still felt the need to point out they are technically different

@@rj5929 and I still have no idea how this would lead to political oppression.... like... how? This does not give Canada direct access to alter the algorithm... I supremely doubt KZbin will do that. I imagine it will lead to minor internal changes made by KZbin to their own algorithm. Also, this has been in effect for everything non-internet related for DECADES and I am pretty sure I still see opposing view-points and political adds.

Good to see a man that has common sense, speaks the truth and took time to learn his history lessons. And is intelligent enough to see that it is about to repeat itself. To not know history and to learn from it simply dooms us to repeat it. Canada needs more men like this in politics. Trudeau tries to silence all that speak against him, this Bill is just another aid to keep him in power as it will give him the tools he needs to silence all that opposes him.

Slowly the Liberals are setting the stage for a communistic reset.. The gun ban was to remove our right to defend against a tyrannical Government which we have a duty to do.. Then trying to control our thoughts and free speech.. The level of manipulation being displayed by the Government needs to be taken SERIOUSLY!

This is amazingly articulated. I did not think the liberals had people of such principles. Thank goodness there are still a few with this integrity. I just wish our tv networks had this kind of integrity. So sad most people will never hear this or it will be presented in an officious and shortened version with the talking heads reinterpreting. Too bad something like this will be shredded apart by less brilliant people.

A great speech from one of our great Canadian writers David Richards . He took us on a time capsule journey of censorship . Big Brother will be watching and creating algorithms tailored for each Canadian and instead of using a massive surveillance apparatus such as in Orwell's 1984 we will be surveilled by the keystrokes that we tap on our computers.
