"Next in line, please step forward." Priceless. I'll have to link this to my favorite pilot buddy.

Great video, I think your point about the need for a pilot to trust their gunner can't be stressed enough. I can't tell you how many times I've adjusted my aim for the perfect shot after firing once or twice only to have my pilot abruptly change position, effectively denying a kill. Other times, when my pilot has "trusted" me and held position for five seconds to allow me to adjust for a difficult shot, it has really paid off, sometimes allowing me to take out multiple targets with relative ease. When I'm flying, I try to consider what position I could take at any given time that would give my gunner the most benefit, and a position that allows the Dalton to face forward, as you say, usually works out the best for my gunners as well. One thing I'd like to add is something I learned from flying Jobes, which I had never considered before he pointed it out. Using vertical thrust can throw off your gunner's aim. In particular it's about consistency and the gunner's muscle memory. When I'm positioning myself to give a gunner a shot, I make sure to keep my thumb off of the spacebar. Eliminating that extra movement the gunner needs to compensate for and providing that consistency every time you line up has worked wonders for me and my gunners. One more thing, Wycliff, your voice is really quiet on all of your videos compared to other people's. I don't know if anyone has pointed that out before. Always good stuff, though. Take care!

Thanks for pointing this out ..cuz I faced the same problem with my main gunner. She was away for quite a while (she was REALLY good) and I changed my style for another gunner ...and when she came back, she wasn't hitting as much. Same thing with me (as gunner) and some of the pilots I know. I do better with noob pilots who can barely move the lib than with really good pilots. So, yeah, definitely helpful this video can be. :) One more thing, I'd really appreciate it if you'd make a vid about how gunners for certain airframes can be affected if they gun for a different airframe. :)

Good video :D Not too long ago, I switched pilots and my new pilot used High G, he was good but I struggle to adjust to high G. After gunning for my new pilot for about a week, he decided to try bomber and holding space and I began to hit again (montage coming up with the new pilot now that i've adjusted).

could you do something about breaking in entirely new gunners? I have an outfit with people inexperienced in it, but that want to learn to gun.
@damnfoolr.163310 жыл бұрын
I think it probably boils down to: - fly frequently for them - trust them with the angle - communicate about targets ... that and have more experienced gunner in the tail to help pick-up the slack and guard you against untimely destruction.
@WycliffSlim10 жыл бұрын
In the beginning it's all about seat time. They just have to fire a lot of shots and start to learn angles. Be patient, help them out and just be ok with the fact that they're going to get you killed a lot :P. And also remember that all the best gunners in the game started out trash you never know who the next Dalton ace will be!

WycliffSlim I've been talking with some of my outfit mates about just loading up PTS hand having one pilot hold the lib steady while we rotate through some gunners and have them take shots at me so that they can practice and i can give feedback. Do you think this would work or would the simulation not stack up to live combat?
@WycliffSlim10 жыл бұрын
DrSPAZZINATOR That's a pretty good idea. I've done stuff like that and it's good practice.

Wycliff, Could you please do a video tutorial on hitting ESF with dalton? I've been trying to learn that and it just doesn't work for me! Thanks! Great vids btw!
@WycliffSlim10 жыл бұрын
It's a lot of practice. You can't really "teach" how to do it. It would be like trying to teach someone how to headshot moving targets. The one thing other than practice that can help is watching a lot of montages to start seeing a general idea of leading.

I was playing with a friend last week and he was REALLY good at landing shots but we weren't performing well together , I changed my airframe and did all he wants and he can now land shots with me too. My other (first) gunner will not be here for a month and we are doing so good that I feel like I'm cheating him lol

I have a very interesting situation. So I solo lib, and gun for people. But I constantly swap back and forth between pilots, and solo libbing. So one day I might solo, and the next I might gun for one person, then change to someone different. So could this be hurting my aim/consistency? Because I do go from one day hitting and the next missing the easiest shots. Just wanted your opinion, thanks!
@WycliffSlim10 жыл бұрын
Leading is definitely different between solo and with a pilot so it could definitely be hurting you some. But in general I never found it too difficult to switch between the two.

WycliffSlim Ok, and thanks again :)
@gujanalolmad292610 жыл бұрын
easy solution: stick with one pilot and never solo lib again. fuck solo libs.

Me and my friend like to lib together when we get the chance, but him hitting shots is a really rare occasion (most of them were either lucky or non-moving). Is there anything I can do to help him get better other than fly more?
@WycliffSlim10 жыл бұрын
In all honesty just flying him more is what's going to help the most.

Wycliffe, I play on Emerald and I'm really interested in becoming a serious lib pilot/gunner but I don't know where or how to find a dedicated pilot/gunner to practice with. I have most of the certs done on my Lib over the past few months but I'm a mediocre pilot and gunner right now. I want to improve but I need someone to practice with regularly. Any tips?
