Great video! I grew up at LAC during the 1970’s. The old Uniroyal Rubber Plantation. We used to spend weekends at Sunset Beach with the Swedish people from Lamco. So many great memories stirred watching this video of a wonderful childhood and teenage years in beautiful country with fantastic people.

Moe! So nice to see! Loved that last bit on Atlantic street overlooking the lighthouse. On the beach adjacent to it, is where I learned to swim. I made my owna trip 42 years from leaving. Visited in nov 2022. We lived in the loops. My parents worked for Lamco. I am born in Buchanan and was 12 when we left, due to Sam’l Doe and the coup. You have the real Buchanan/Bassa accent. You never lost it. Loved to see this. Goosebumps ❤

Moe Michael‼️your comment gave ME Goosebumps.My dad also worked for Lamco for a short while after his residency at the Lamco Hospital. Driving around brought back a lot of precious memories. I can imagine what your trip back was like for you after 42 years.. you actually was born and lived there most of your childhood. What encouragement you to go back after all this time? Do you plan on returning? Thank you so much for sharing Michael 🙏🏾❤️

@@peesomathies Emoe! I felt something missing from my life, like it was something wrong with me. The return trip was great. Magical! All memories and questions I had came answered. I spent virtually every weekend at Sunset Beach growing up. Back then it was known as Furtemarks Beach. I also, upon returning, received my Bassa name: ”U-Jay”. Everybody was asking: ”When dah smor boh coming back?” After 40+ years he finally came!

@@zentrovert That’s how ai felt too upon returning to Liberia after being in the States for 20 years. Being back home put a lot of things into perspective about what’s important in life. That’s was 17 years ago. I’ve traveled back home every year some times twice a year since then. Ujay is a favorite Bassa male name. I have 3 cousins named Ujay😂. I’m so happy for you Michael, being able to go back and experience this is priceless🥰

Didn’t know you could do a day trip out there. I always thought it was farther from the city. Doc looks good & happy…enjoying his retirement. Hello sis Peeso! Nice video👏👏👏 but I have a question 🙋‍♀️. You keep saying you going to bassa or in bassa. So my question is , is there a place named bassa in Buchanan or what? Because what I know is, Grand Bassa is the county itself, Buchanan is the capital city and bassa is the language/dialect.
@peesomathies
@peesomathies Жыл бұрын
😂😂😂Mary you are right. Grand Bassa is the county and Buchanan is the capital city….but most of us Liberians just refer to the county as just “Bassa”. We call the county and the language “Bassa”. Hope that makes sense 😊❤️

Shalom sister This content very valuable. Have you been to edina? I've been peeping your home building footage. Would it be more affordable to have a home built outside of Monrovia, such as the Edina area, or are the prices pretty much the same no matter where you are in the country?
@peesomathies
@peesomathies Жыл бұрын
Hey there, Thanks for watching. I have not built a house outside of the cities yet but that’s on my radar. We are building a pig’s pen in Royceville outside of Monrovia and the building materials are comparable to that of the city. But Royceville is only 15- 20 minutes outside of Monrovia. Bassa/Edina on the other hand is a few hours away from Monrovia so the building materials might be slightly higher over there and then you have to account for transporting materials to your building site. Edina, Grand Bassa County is a historic location and it is so beautiful.
