I have the new book - Liberty: The History: Treasures from the Archives of the Luxury Department Store. It is a beautiful and I read it cover to cover. Because it goes over all of their types of products, it does not go into a lot of depth but provides a very nice overview. The book is of good quality and has many lovely photographs and illustrations. I am going to admit my ignorance here. I was in London in 1986 as a college student and did not know about Liberty and the store. Two years later I started quilting and eventually learned about and fell in love with Liberty fabrics and thought that is all Liberty did. To my surprise, as I'm reading the book, I discovered that Liberty creates and sells all sorts of beautiful items. Now I can't wait to come back to London so I can visit the store - my daughter is applying to study abroad programs and while a university in Scotland is at the top of her list, she is also applying to one in London.

I look forward to every Lowdown episode and always learn about something new. I empathize with your search for your personal Liberty Fabrics Holy Grail. For me it's the Ornithology fabric, which I think I just missed buying a bit of last year and now it's impossible to find.

I agree with Kathy and always look forward to and enjoy every episode of Liberty Lowdown. I have a question… I’ve collected Liberty Tana Lawn fat sixteenth bundles of 8 different colors to go with 2 grey Tana Lawn fat quarter bundles. I intend to make 6 inch log cabin blocks. My question is - I can use foundation paper piecing with Liberty Lawn fabric? The fabric is so very lovely but seems fragile to me. What do you think?

Hi Susan - you can Foundation Paper Piece with Tana Lawn - the papers actually stabilise it a little but I would recommend you still use a size 70 needle and cotton thread (50wt). I hope that helps!

@@JenniSmithSews I have another question before I start the project with Liberty Tana Lawn… would it be a good idea to use starch prior to starting the project. I have this product called Flatter that I was thinking about using. Thank you for replying to my previous question. I especially appreciated the advice to use a 70 needle with the foundation paper piecing as I had intended to use a 90 because it was recommended on several different internet posts I had read about quilting with Tana Lawn fabrics.
