I have been around horses for many years, and im 60+. I always felt that something is wrong in the way we treat our horses, and been looking fore different training methods. Im glad that there are now more scientific ground based training to relay on. I do feel a bit novice in this way of training, but im trying my best. I do hope that the horseworld is one the right path, and people are more open to change their ways😊

Very interested in your methods and will be listening to your poscast to learn more. Great observation of the difference between obedience and liberty. Makes perfect sense.

I’m a western rider who uses almost 100% pressure & release type-training for first saddlings, tricks, and overall. I loved listening to your perspective on this, without necessarily shaming anybody. Very educational. I’m glad you also mentioned how there’s a place for obedience, whereas some strict +R trainers claim any of it is inherently wrong. Who knows, I might try true liberty one day.

This is wonderful, Nadine! 💪🏼😍. I had a visitor this week whose “Liberty” experience was exclusively the more “natural horsemanship” version. I explained to her that the NH style of “liberty” works to convince the horse that even though they are free of tack, the human can STILL “get” them, so it is not freedom. And that true liberty is exactly the opposite… working to convince the liberty horse than even when we add tack in a liberty context, they are still free… that we still won’t “get” them. Yes, there can be contexts in which we decide it’s not appropriate for them to be free… contexts in which they need to be obedient, but horses are great at learning that different contexts have different “rules.” I personally prefer that my horses do not always link tack to obedience, but obviously that’s a personal choice 😁

Loved listening to you... I come from dog training background and no wonder there are a gazillion dog trainers who create great videos yet it's not secret that people are still struggling with their dogs. Just like how your horses were losing interest in wide open spaces, dogs too feel much more engaged to their real world surroundings than their human handler.. Loving listening to all you have to say..will mull over it to figure out how in some ways it can be applied to dogs.. Apart from all theories, observation of our companion animals reveal so much and it's upto us how we connect with our own presence to theirs...
