As far as using particular items and rituals... I do not practice anything that does not feel natural to me. Even if it's in a book. I found I was already doing certain "spells" or "rituals" but in my own ways, and well before reading about them. Incense I use just as a way to cleanse the air put not necessarily for energy (though that is basically the same) but also for smoke scrying. Bells and the like have always naturally called to me, etc. Basically, the phrase "trust your intuition" means EXACTLY that. If doing something feels foreign to you, you are copying someone else's methods, or you need to do extensive research on something just to put it into practice, it may not be meant for you. In fact, it likely isn't. Much love, be safe.
