The dry sound is what sells it for me: it sounds just like when I record a rehearsal with my mobile recorder in a normal sized European opera house. God dammit, I wasn't going to buy more strings!
@CoryPelizzari4 жыл бұрын
That's what won me over. Every other string library I have sounds like a "string library" whereas these strings sound true to a film score room and how they would be engineered, rather than sounding pre-produced for a cinematic sound.

Worth noting that I bought this library a little while after the 2.0 release. The playability seemed finicky and the UI was a bit buggy. I put it aside and never used it, hoping they'd fix it. I never got an email of an update, but when I re-downloaded the library out of curiosity to see if I could come around a bit, seems they released an update. As far as I can tell, it fixed a lot of my problems, and I don't recall ever receiving word of this update myself. Just a heads up! Based on the creation date of the patches, the update happened in December of 2019.

Would love to see your review of Solo and Ensemble Strings by Samplemodeling. Just stumbled upon it today, and I believe it's the most realistic sounding string ensemble vst I've ever heard.
@777Witness4 жыл бұрын
Thank you for this awesome review! Whoud you say this is the best sounding chamber string library outthere, or there is a better more natural and realistic sounding option?
@CoryPelizzari4 жыл бұрын
This one sounds the most like a raw studio recording. I wouldn't say there's one "best" chamber string library, but other good alternatives are libraries like Spitfire's Chamber Strings and Strezov's Afflatus Strings chamber sections. The problem is both those libraries are more than triple the price, so in the end L&S Chamber Strings ends up being the best for the money overall.
@rumar4u4 жыл бұрын
My internal wanting another strings library is tingling... didn't like the Legatos but all around is great and for that price...? Where would it fit and would you buy it if you already have Spitfire's Albion One (EPIC), Solo Strings (Legatos), BBC Symphony Core (Ensembles), Olafur Arnalds Chamber Strings oh and EWQL Hollywood and Symphonic ?
@CoryPelizzari4 жыл бұрын
I personally find it valuable because it has the kind of flexible chamber scoring sound you don't often find in string libraries due to the many mic options. The XY mics and the close ribbons alone have a genuine sound that many string libraries can't pull off because other string libraries tend to sound a little too mixed or processed to sound cinematic. That and the dynamic longs make this library unique. I have many string libraries (CS, CSS, CSSS, SStS, Afflatus, Hollywood Strings, Neo, Con Moto, Soaring Strings, Session Strings Pro 2, etc) and so far this one is one of my personal favourites for a chamber string sound. I find it more flexible than Spitfire's Chamber Strings because that library has a stark, moody tone that just doesn't fit with certain styles.
@blacktminister4154 жыл бұрын
Thanks, Cory. Great review (again). I really like the sound, but maybe this lib won't add much when you already own Studio Strings Pro (as I do)?
@CoryPelizzari4 жыл бұрын
It's different from Studio Strings Pro in that it has the kind of chamber sound you don't often find in a string library. I personally find both very valuable assets, plus it's very affordable so I think it's a strong investment. As far as mic positions go it's superior.
@Stormgnome4 жыл бұрын
Hiya, Love your presentations, How would you say this compares to Session strings pro 2 for starting out?
@CoryPelizzari4 жыл бұрын
It doesn't have as many articulations but it's definitely a great library to start with and it's a lot more emotive. I own a lot of string libraries and I plan on using this one on a few projects.

hi man I brought spitfire studio strings and love your samples and multis that you made for it...to be honest I use them more than the actual library...have you a video on how you made those multis etc? also do you recommend I grab L&S chamber strings ?? I own the orchestra...spitfire studio strings and east west hollywood strings gold...cheers
@CoryPelizzari4 жыл бұрын
At $150 yeah I'd totally recommend getting this library. It has its own unique sound that suits more intimate film/game scoring and can come in real handy when you want an unprocessed string sound. I haven't made a video on how I make the multis, it's really just clever use of the transpose setting in the patch, while the bite patches have an EQ under the hood that the pitch wheel controls.

@studio_musique_audionomie4 жыл бұрын
hello Cory and thank you for this review. I have the feeling to get the same type of intimate sound with my Hollywood strings using just the divisi (so I reject by two the overall workforce). can you dinner me notice on that?
@CoryPelizzari4 жыл бұрын
I'm not quite sure what the question is, but Hollywood Strings' divisi sections are still bigger than a chamber ensemble and they're only recorded in mono so they're limited in use.
@studio_musique_audionomie4 жыл бұрын
@@CoryPelizzari do you recomand this library over Spitfire studio strings ( for the same range of price?)
@CoryPelizzari4 жыл бұрын
@@studio_musique_audionomie Yes, it costs less and has a lot of mic positions. If you really want a bunch of divisi sections then Studio Strings would be the way to go, but if you're fine with the usual 5 sections then this library offers a lot more for the money.

@@CoryPelizzari Thank you for making me discover this library: I finally bought it and I don't regret it at all! I just hope that the next updates will concern the portamentos, will correct some bugs (on the doubles for example or the pedal which does not always work with me) why not one or two new articulations like the harmonics. but in any case I have rarely seen such an alluring value for money!

Cory .. my apology for the off topic.. I face also if phase issue with CSS .. do have the same problem ? Tried to invert the phase signal but no luck .. any suggestion for that ? Thnx .. great reviews all the time .
@CoryPelizzari4 жыл бұрын
I haven't noticed any phasing in CSS. Do you mean CSSS? Because the close mic has some crossfade phasing when you're going between dynamics. The best way to avoid that is to use the main and room mics and in some cases to leave the instrument at one dynamic and just use the volume slider to create dynamics.
@yasseralbanna71024 жыл бұрын
Cory Pelizzari thanks Cory for your reply ,, will try that but kindly can you also try the css even the ensemble patch and check it with any phase or imager tool .. I use izotop image .. and see if you having the same issue .. thanks again 👍

Cory, what kind of chamberstrings can I use for general use? My acquaintance already recommends another company other than the same one because I have a BBCSO, and some acquaintances say that the same company may be better. Other than the following products, various instruments that are uploaded are helpful, but you can't buy them all, so you need a choice. I'm planning to use it for classical, pop, ballad, and drama. 1. 8dio anthology 2. spitfire chamber strings 3. Lass full 2.5 4. VSL chamber strings etc....
@CoryPelizzari4 жыл бұрын
L&S Chamber Strings are great for general use because they have plenty of mic options. For tighter, pop/funk use you can go with Session Strings Pro 2 as they have traditional panning and symmetrical panning (basses on both sides, violins in middle).
@YeahBan4 жыл бұрын
Cory Pelizzari Thank you. But one things is poor that L&S Chamber Strings is not include portament... Both strings I like that.
@CoryPelizzari4 жыл бұрын
@@YeahBan In that case Session Strings Pro 2 has both portamento and glissando. Alternatively you could go with 8Dio's Century Strings as they have small ensembles and aren't too expensive.
