4:58:13 “Since the world began, everyone has beaten the Germans” The fact that Tolstoy died before both world wars makes this line so.. interesting to me And kinda funny 💀

The reader's pronunciation of "hobbledehoy" in a French accent is ingenious. Brilliant translation and performance.

I wonder what that was in the original Russian 🤔

I was asking about a book on Love And War. Never heard of this one but its got my attention on the voice and cleverness of keeping you here to listen.

OK. Now I can say I really was involved with the writers ability to see each character and what they're reactions and engagements were just as if yourself were in the room. It tells of differences and similarities in upbringing among responsibility and relationships. I enjoyed the journey.

Actually,, the translation is by Louise Maude. Together, Louise and Alymer Maude translated all of Tolstoy's works. Alymer did the non-fiction. Louise did the fiction.

Some people’s voices you just can’t handle… can’t handle this guys voice. Was really looking forward to listening to the book.

After starting to listen to this audiobook, I cannot see the point in an abridged version. Easy to see why it is considered the first modern novel. Has it ever been bettered?

I told you just how out of touch and ignorant those characters were ... I feel kind of bad for the Pierre character, or at least at that point in the story, because they all worked the same how horrible and awful Napoleon was, when the king was just as bad it's not way worse

Napoleon is responsible for killing, torturing maiming MILLIONS. Russian Emperor Alexander was an angel in comparison.
