I literally stopped reading the comics like a decade ago for that reason....literally went from being funny to every comic being political.

Wow, people are dumb and can't joke. And take politics too seriously. This song isn't political. It's ripping on the self pitying crowd that think they have it so bad but had a sweet life. Chill out.
@Desencadenar2 жыл бұрын
People imagine things, more often than they actually SEE them. I mean, you gotta be delusional to see something political here. That particular crowd has always been notoriously non-poltical, for one thing. As far as I remember, the author is quite the anti-war progressist, tolerant leftie. But you wouldn't guess that in a million years, from such a video. He just happens to be able to see things from more than one position.

You know... one the one hand, some of the youth in fortunate, well developed areas really are spoiled and whiney. They really are. BUT. Youth mental health isn't a fucking joke, and I see songs like this as a product of their time. They haven't aged well and can be quite damaging. Not because I completely disagree with the message. Far from it, in fact, since Ive known a lot of Emos who complained about having nothing to complain about, but just because some one is white and living in a suburb doesn't mean there's nothing there. Even some one who is the most privileged looking on the outside might have major familial issues, be dealing with mental and emotional abuse or rampant neglect that their parents try to smooth over with gifts, leaving them confused, angry and feeling completely alone and isolated. They could be suffering from major mental or chemical imbalances that are going undiagnosed and untreated because their parents don't care, don't believe them or, maybe, even have the same kind of thinking as this song, saying "you've got nothing to be sad about, so grow the fuck up and deal with it." That's not everyone, obviously, and some of them are just hopping on trends because their friends do it or whatever, but I think it's important to differentiate between the two, because lumping every case together as "emotional trend hopping teenager" is dangerous. That's how we get kids breaking down, hurting themselves or others or growing up to be unbalanced and dangerous adults. I know this is a long comment and many wont care what I've had to say, but I wanted to get it out there regardless. I used to love this song when I was 18-22 and came back to listen to it again tonight and realized how much of this kind of dismissive shit I heard growing up. I lived in a tiny space in the basement from the ages of 14 to 18 because my moms boyfriends kids took all the other rooms but the master bedroom. I had no heater in my space, no light in my space except a lamp I attached to an extension cord I ran under my door. I was neglected, yelled at, abused, talked down to and ignored all my life, but because I was white and lived in a big house, no one cared. I was whiney. I needed to grow up. So, by the time I was 18, I felt every "Emo" was just being whiney. I didn't understand. I didn't even start to understand until mid 22 when a high school friend who never seemed to outgrow the emo phase hung himself. I had always told him to grow up, it wasnt that bad, everything would be fine. I never stopped to listen, just like every one else. I joined the military shortly after that. I had been applying for about a year and my background check finally went through and I got in. A couple years into my service, I was crippled in the line of duty. My left leg had been pretty fucked up and even doing logistics work was quite difficult as a result of my injuries. Eventually, I was medically released, seen as unfit for service. During the long release process, I tried twice to take my own life and failed both times. It wasn't until I started getting therapy after going back home that I started to realize the horrible shit I had lived through, that no one had listened to or cared about. I was diagnosed with severe clinical depression due to chemical imbalance and prescribed several medications to help that I'm still on today. If I had listened to my friend and talked to him instead of at him, maybe he would still be alive. If some one had listened to me and helped me earlier, maybe I wouldn't have tried to follow suite. So yeah, maybe some kids are just trend hopping. Or maybe, just MAYBE, we need to listen to what they're actually saying and try to help them, instead of brushing them off as whiney emo hippies. Sincerely, a crippled vet.

thats when i just loose it i mean people have killed themselves for been call fat i mean life is fucking hard like way more that some punk ass kid trying to make you feel bad about yourself probably he is trying to project his anger and resentment towards you i think all this anti bulling carp is a pipe dream sure it would be nice but sometime i feel these people just need to grow a back bone and start to stand tall for themselves i know life has given me the back soo many times and many times i have been depressed to but need to move on stand up and at least try to make something out of your self i know it sounds like something that a father would say while scolding his child but its just the fucking truth no one and nothing will change if you don't change yourself and that's just a fucking fact of life
