Lichtenberg Tree 4K UHD 16x time-lapse (do not try this at home, High voltage may kill you !!!)

4K UHD video recording of Lichtenberg tree growth (time-lapse). Growing such complex figure is time consuming, approx 20 minutes.
Lichtenberg figures developing on insulating material surface, which is exposed to high voltage. In this case it is a plywood covered with baking soda water solution. At point of maximum electric tension (maximal electric field) an sparkover occurs, which also burn wood surface. Charred plywood is relatively better conductor, so the spot with max electric field appears somewhere else, where another sparkover occurs. An so on and on is the figure branching and growing.

Basically, the setup is on this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/naHRkIatf61_aKM It is just modified Jacob's ladder: The electrodes are set apart and from this electrodes I took insulated high voltage wires to the plywood for burning. The blue device (closer to the camera) is autotransformer for geulation of output voltage. The gray block in front of the electrodes is the HV transformer.

Ahoj, vn trafo 8kV,50mA (staré z napájení neonové reklamy). A pro regulaci (8kV je zbytečně moc) to napájím z 6A regulačního autotransformátoru

they use a machine to basically pump 2000 volts of electricity into the wood, causing it to burn a neat looking figure. that being said, NEVER try this. 2000 volts is the same voltage as an electric chair so even just lightly brushing against any part of the setup will almosy always result in death.

Except it's not voltage that can kill you, it's the current. An electric chair outputs about 7-12 amps, to kill almost instantly. It takes 0.1 to 0.2 amps to be lethal to the average human. The current produced by the device is this video is from a neon sign or oil burner and outputs likely no more than 0.035 amps. So, far below the electric chair, and considerably less lethal to humans. Stop trying to push your scary narrative and leave these artists alone.
